Motorcycle-Eating Tree
Status: Undetermined
Back in July I posted about a bicycle-eating tree in Washington state. That tree is real. Now here we have a motorcycle-eating tree. I don't have much information about it. According to the site I found it on, the picture was taken in Thailand. I'm inclined to think it's real. After all, there are trees that grow quite fast, and this motorcycle does look rusted.

Hmmm, I am sceptic. I would suspect the motorbike to be ripped of any useful parts.

Hmmm. . .I've seen things like this in person often enough, especially with some of the faster-growing tropical trees like fig trees. So it could be real. But whether this particular instance of it is or not, I have no way of telling; all I can say is I don't see anything against it being true.

My money's on real, but not chance - probably an artwork of some kind.

I guess the problem is how to define "real". In the bicycle-eating tree in Washington, the story that goes with it (that the tree "ate" and lifted a bicylce that was left leaning against it) is certainly not true.
In this case--I'd bet that someone wedged the bike between structures of the tree which later grew to grasp it more firmly.

I don't think its true... I heard trees don't like the taste of motorcycles.

No way that bike was not stripped of everything valuable and usable.

I looked at the pic on the linked site. Having been in Thailand, granted 30+ years ago, I remember fast growing trees there. I think this is real, the motorcycle was leaned against the tree, left for a while (a stupid stunt) and the tree grew around it. The roots "in front" of the cycle look like they grew down as the tree grew. My guess is it took about a month or maybe a little less.

Is that a Norton Commando? What a waste.

The bike-eating tree has followers! Maybe it'll found a religion.
