Rescued Cat and Frogkitten
Status: Real, Fake
The expression on this cat's face is pretty wild, but I don't see any evidence of photoshopping. I found the image on this Russian livejournal site, so I'm guessing it might be a Russian fireman who just saved the cat. This little guy, however, ("frogkitten" -- whose image has been floating around the internet for years) has definitely been photoshopped.

That's a great image.

Maybe the cat is about to be sick and it's really ill. It's a great photo though.

The kitten looks like it's wearing a froggie scarf.

My opinion: the Russian cat is frozen with its mouth open. The guy is carrying him outside because it's actually warmer than inside the house, and it will be easier for the cat to thaw.
Well, seriously: there are some big sized breeds of cats in Russia. The Siberian is not as big as your Maine Coons, but it's definitely a biggie. Well, this one looks more like a Persian than a Siberian, but who knows.

wow! those are the freakiest eyes I have seen on a cat...they look kinda fake but I can't really tell.

Both cats are extremely cute. But I just feel like hugging and kissing and giving frogkitten milk. The Russian cat I want to brush. Then give it milk.

I wouldn't be too sure. There was a Japanese company called "petoffice" that sold "catprin", Japanese tailoring for cats...
Cached google link...(takes ages to load but it's worth it)

I'm sorry, Limecat is still cuter.

I've seen Frogkitten before and hadn't doubted that it was a real photo... but now looking closer I suppose it could have been Photoshopped. That's a very young kitten, anyways, not sure it would be very happy about such a big hat, which probably weighed at least half as much as the kitten itself.
Limecat does own all, anyways. http://www.stuffonmycat.com

That Russian cat is one strange looking cat. The eyes are just, well, weird looking.
Someone please give him/her a good brushing and a bath followed by yet another good brushing. Poor kitty. *Gives the kitty scritchies*

What's the deal, Alex?
You're willing to believe a parakeet cross-stitches samplers, but you won't believe somebody could put a little hat on a kitten and then take a picture of it?

the frogkitten is obvously fake, just look at the colour of the hat and the rest of the photo, it just looks wrong... which is suprising because, how hard is it to put a frog hat on a kitten?

they are both real. having lived in japan i know that dressing up cats is normal practice. check out the catprin link posted above.
the russian cat is just very unhappy. it's features and size are exaggerated because it's been photographed with a wide angle lens thereby distorting the perspective. in most instances, journos will shoot stuff in this way to make the shot more interesting. remember - they are professional photographers and know how to get shots that sell papers.

why is the frog eating the cat?
Posted by holly on Thu Apr 19, 2007 at 05:22 AM
Personnally seen cats that big. Cat could have been reacting to the cameraman. A cat that freezes to death would be curled up with eyes shut.

I agree with Christophe Thill in Paris (France)

i am the original owner of that picture that you call "frogkitten". That IS NOT a photoshopped picture, it is my cat Eric when he was a kitten in a hat! what is wrong with you people.
