Marzipan Babies
Status: Not Marzipan
I'm a big fan of Marzipan. In fact, I've made several pilgrimages to Lübeck, home of Niederegger, makers of the best marzipan in the world (in my opinion). So I was intrigued by these pictures of tiny babies supposedly made out of marzipan. I don't see why one couldn't make lifelike dolls out of marzipan, but that's not the case with these dolls. They're actually made by the artist Camille Allen out of polymer clay or resin, and they're not edible. Still, in the past it was apparently possible to buy jelly babies, as well as chocolate babies. So why not marzipan babies? (via Strong Chemistry)

these are not marzipan, here website is http://www.camilleallen.com/ and she makes them out of clay! I was going to say marzipan, as nice as it is, does not look that flawless. it's spongy...
but she does sell these for as low as $90 a piece, but as much as $3000.

Please read the actual entry before replying with "Where can I buy marzipan babies?" Is reading comprehension in adults really that low?!

THEY DO NOT EXIST. THE PICTURES ARE OF CLAY SCULPTED BABIES.

That is said in the entry. If you want to buy them go to her website. Here is the link, for the like 12th time.

To be quite honest, I actually looked up these images for a Childhood and Culture paper. While at first glance I will admit that I found the babies very cute and sweet. At second glance, however, I was dismayed to realize that someone is commercializing the image of infants and selling these little figurines, which cheapens the concept of children and childhoos=d in totality. Of course everyone likes to look at an adorable sleeping baby, BUT IT IS THE BABY AS A WHOLE THAT IS PRECIOUS,NOT JUST AS A HEDONISITC IMAGE FOR CONSUMERISTIC AMERICA TO ENJOY!

These are created with clay and there are NUMEROUS artists devoting many hours to bringing them to life they can be found all over the www and in all price ranges many names have been given to these creations OOAK aka one of a kind art dolls is a good start if your Google searching Ebay has many artists work and Jack Johnston is a maker of one of the most popular clays being used to create them Prosculpt is the name for his product
