Gnomes Escape from Gnome Peepshow
Reuters reports that scantily clad garden gnomes have disappeared from a "gnome peepshow" located in an East German amusement park. So what exactly is a gnome peepshow? It's an attraction where "visitors peep through keyholes to see the saucy German miniatures in compromising poses." Perhaps the risque gnomes will one day return, accompanied by snapshots of their globe-trotting adventures. (Thanks to Big Gary C for forwarding this story to me)

More from the Hoax Museum Archives:
I wondered if the globe-trotting gnome from the commercials was originally an idea from Amelie? She sends her dad's garden gnome w/ a flight attendant who takes pictures & sends them back to her father.

Yeah, I should have put a link to the earlier post that I was alluding to (the one about the roving ovines), where I mention Amelie:

Might they be related to the Mooning Garden Gnomes advertised by Prankplace.com?

I'm sure there's huge amounts of money to be made in Gnome Porn.

I suspect these East German gnomes were a bit more explicit than Prankplace's mooning gnome.

There's a psychology dissertation in there for someone on why anybody would want to see a gnome peepshow.

I see to remember that (ex-British PM) John Major reputedly started out painting garden gnomes. Given his odd sexual tastes (well, Edwina Currie??) I wonder if he might have been involved...?

(I guess that should have said 'British ex-PM')

Well, they serve a purpose of giving all of us with "good taste" an opportunity to be shocked and disgusted everytime we see one in someone

There's a house I drive past when I visit my grandparents that has a 'running man' holding their mailbox. It's basically a stick-figure made with pieces of plywood, shaped to look like a man running with a mailbox in his hand. (In the dark it looks like a guy running & shoot a gun, if that helps illustrate.) It's been in place ever since I've been alive (I'm 21), & every few years it disappears. There's always a sign on the new mailbox: Please return! Reward! It always gets returned. Also, they paint him different colors for different times of the year. (Well, either they paint him, or they have a bunch of different ones they put in the yard. It's the red/white/blue painted & santa-painted figure that is usually stolen.)
