Upgrade My Wife

What is it with this thing about begging for money to pay for plastic surgery? It's become the new online phenomenon, as if the most deserving people in the world are those who need a tummy tuck or boob job. As it happens the guy who created Upgrade My Wife is hoping to get both those surgeries for his wife. And he wants internet surfers to pay for them. He writes:

I created this web site because my wife has been considering a tummy tuck and breast augmentation for quite a few years, but neither of us knew how much it would cost. She made the appointment to see her doctor and went through the consultation. Her surgery quote from the doctor is only good for 30 days and is a whopping. $12,750. All I need to do now is pay for it!

Unlike Caias Ward, this guy isn't even willing to do anything to earn the money. Plus, as is always the case with such things, there's no guarantee the money will go towards the stated purpose. The likelihood is that he'll never raise $12,750, so after a few months he'll probably take whatever money he's raised and spend it on something else.

I'm somewhat amused with the currently prevalent culture's embrace and use of the term and concept of "Upgrades", as if it provides a step up in a socio-economic or caste system. It just kinda seems like an ethereal reward in a material world. Deep, eh?

I love the way you're willing to assume something's not a hoax. Me, I assume this guy's a common thief who will take the seven or fifty dollars he 'earns' from this and buy himself some Marlboros or an ipod. You assume his sob story--assuming plastic surgery can be considered a sob story--may be legitimate.

God bless you, Forrest!

if it is a hoax then shame on the hoaxer! i could think of a hundred better sob stories to earn money than plastic surgery for your wife, this sob story just sounds kind of superfical, chaunvistic and desperate (i spelt two of those words wrong im sorry)

Didn't someone pay for his/her college tuition in the same way? Nothing succeeds like imitation, I guess.

If the website doesn't work, he can always got to MTV and see if they're willing to do a VERY UNIQUE version of "Pimp My Ride"......

Either way... I really wish my work "filter" had been turned up just a little higher! 😊

Can't bring up a crossword puzzle to save my life yet somehow those pictures show up fine...

At least I'll save $$$ during lunch tonight, the appetite is GONE now... 😊

I agree with HH, the first thing I experienced was shocked amusement at this man's use of the word "upgrade". This man is disgusting and extremely chauvinistic, and I'm truly amazed that he considers plastic surgery a "need" for his wife. I am especially appalled by his statement on the front page, "I'm pushing for double D's when she's finished". Oh my god. I'm not a feminist by any means, but the candid sexualization he's conveying is truly abhorrent.

Anyway, reading user comments on the page are more uplifting, because it seems like no one either believes him or agrees with him. I especially like "Your wife doesn't need to be "upgraded," asshole -- she's not a piece of equipment" and of course, "Those photos ought to be used in every sex ed class across America. They would do more to prevent teen pregnancy than anything else." 😊

I think it's interesting that this guy is "upgrading" his wife by investing in plastic surgery. I usually thought that when men "upgrade" their significant others, they usually go in for a younger, newer version, not repair the current one...

I think if that happened to me, I'd be kinda insulted that my partner didn't appreciate my looks, but at least he doesn't wanna get rid of me altogether!

I agree, what a jerk! I'm sure his wife LOVES him very much. He hates his wife's looks so much he even created a WEBSITE just so he can make her do plastic surgery. Now if it was endangering her life then that's reasonable, to enlarging her boobs? Hello???

It's about time this guy's wife traded HIM in for something better ... a pound of lard, for example.
