Thief Plays Dead To Avoid Arrest

Status: Dumb criminal
German police report an encounter with a master criminal who, when caught in the act of stealing a computer, tried the old "pretend you're dead" act to elude capture:
The 51-year-old sneaked into a company in the town of Hildesheim late Monday and tried to make off with a computer when the owner discovered him and called the police. The man had fled into the boiler room, where they found him lying on the floor, police said in a statement. He had a pulse, but was not responding to their commands, so they called an ambulance. Only after a doctor tried to insert a tube into the burglar's trachea to reanimate him, did he suddenly open his eyes and begin speaking.
Maybe he thought that if it works for opossums, it might work for him.

Well, he was caught, so I guess he didn't have anything to lose...
Still, I wonder what he expected them to do with "the body"? Throw it in a dumpster?

I worked as a hospital security officer for 30 years and we had the police bring in a lot of guys that pretended to be non responsive.
I remember one guy that the police drove up and found him on the ground but they saw the guy move and re-position himself in a different location and then was "non responsive." He came into the ER and the ER doctor did a sternal rub. He did not respond. Then the doctor did something I never saw before or after..he took and compressed the man's testicals. The guy did not respond. Doctor left and it was ER nurse and me in the room. The nurse said for me to standby ready to restrain him and she started a catheterization of him (via his penis) and he stoped pretending then and I had to restrain him and put him in leather restraints.
I am retired now and I had to have a cath put in me for a test a couple of months ago. Now I know why he came up off that table. In fact I think it could wake up a dead person.
