Snouts
Status: Undetermined
Snouts are cups that look like pig snouts, causing 'hilarity' when you raise the cup to your mouth.
However, the website selling them is remarkably bare, featuring very little information and only two pictures. The online order form asks for rather a lot of details for a site that in itself gives none, and I'm pretty sure I wouldn't be happy giving my credit card information to them.
It may be just bad web design, or it may be a scam, but I don't think I want to risk it.

Hmmm, I look more like I have a snout when I take my cup away from my mouth.

has description, height, capacity, 3 different views, phone number, address and asks only for cc# & address for cc verification...what else do you want to know?

I just checked the link, and the site boasts 1 visitor to date. One visitor? All MOH folks who visited before me raise your hands. Thought so. My vote is scam.

The counter could just be broken. It looks real to me... what's hard to believe about novelty mugs?

I have no problem with novelty mugs, and the two links to other pig-related sites work and go to what seem to be good sites, I just have a problem with traffic counters that do not count. If it was my site, I'd want to know how many visitors so I could adjust ad rates - the more visitors, the higher the rate. And the web designer should want to know how many visiotrs so that he/she can use it for future presentations when trying to get new business. Advertisers would want to know an accurate visitor count to be sure that their advertising goes to a good spot. That's why I thought scam, and still do.

I just noticed the webring link at the bottom left corner and clicked it. The ring snouts is in is listed as suspended. More reason to think scam or just a ring that couldn't keep up?

it's my site & i've been having fun watching the dialogue...the counter doesn't work but who cares if my webhost tracks every visitor via keyword or referring site, time of vist, how long the visits etc.... I do know how many visits are made...the webring thing i dropped a few years ago and I pretty much leave the site up ( since about 1997 or so) sold well over 10,000 of these along with other snout mugs that are not on the site - I may add them. sell wholesale to other sites - my copyright...I have a real job so this is just a sideline --Is there anyone out there who has been scammed???

OK Joe, from your comment I presume you have no intention of expanding and getting ads for your site. Plus I presume from your comments that you haven't updated since 1997. That, at least, is how I understand your comment. That's a long time to go without updating, you did mention that you dropped the webring years ago. Is it any wonder that people would be suspicious?

Is there a left-handed version, or are lefties stuck with upside-down pig snouts when they drink?
Posted by Big Gary in Palo Pinto, Texas on Sun Sep 24, 2006 at 02:25 PM
Big Gary
no lefthanded version...need a totally new master mold for that although, if handles were put on separately, it could happen, but cost is much less for direct pouring into cup & handles simultaneously

Christopher, I had these made in ohio but was approached by a catalog co for licensing; I have an agreement allowing them to make them wherever (Thailand) plus i was to downscale my own marketing....whatever I get from this site is what I get

Actually I did try ordering one of these about 2 yrs ago - NEVER CAME, never refunded, never responded to my many many inquiries. I chalked it up to a lesson learned the hard way.
