Senior Ceiling Mural Prank

This is pretty cool. Instead of doing a typical obnoxious prank, a senior class in Vermont painted a celestial mural on the ceiling of the main lobby of the school. Normally the rule with pranks is that, to be judged successful, they should annoy, shock, irritate, or poke fun at someone. But I think that surprising people is just as valid a reaction. And what's more surprising than a random act of art?

The class of 2005 painted a large celestial mural on a ceiling in the main lobby of the school during the holiday weekend, Principal Peter Evans said.
Evans said when he returned to school on Tuesday, he looked up at the mural and thought it was an art class project. He soon learned that it was the senior prank, a tradition that usually has a more troublesome impact on the school. About 170 ceiling tiles were painted, he said.
...
"It's beautiful, I think everyone agrees that it's beautiful. We're enjoying it right now, and we don't plan on removing it or eliminating it," Evans said.

Better than our senior prank n_n The seniors took sidewalk chalk to the ground. It... was rather sad compared to the year where they filled the quad up with sand and then flooded areas to make it a beach.

that's a really nice prank
this year our school is planning the stupidest prank.
we are gonna give the principal a button everytime we shake her hand, so she will end up with 350 buttons and the prank is to see where will she put the buttons....yeah

That has to be the best leaving prank I've heard of.
(I think second place would be turfing the main corridor in one of the Oxford colleges, and third has to go to taking apart a science teacher's mini and putting it back together inside his lab, in perfect working order!)
Why don't we make that the competition (I know, this should be in another thread) - whoever thinks up the best leaving prank wins, and we can pull it off this time next year.....

It'd be nice to have a picture of the 'mural'.

I appreciate the way the school is handling it, but can't help wonder..........
The kids broke into a public building and vandalized public property. Shouldn't there be some kind of a consequence? If I were principle, I might throw them all in detention for a couple of hours - then join them and bring pizza and soda. It was a great prank, but it was still against the law. My God, I'm sounding like my Mom.

I understand where you're coming from, confused, but since what they did was aesthetically pleasing, I figure it saved the school some money in redecoration.

As long as everyone's happy...

Our school had a senior prank that is commmitted every year at the *start* of the school year. The large school's sign is a wooden board held on by some big heavy bolts..

It's a simple affair to remove the bolts, and replace the sign...

'Abandon All Hope'is the most common replacement.

I don't find the ceiling mural to be particularly pleasing -- does that mean that I should throw the book at them if I were Principal? Do you want enforcement of laws to hang on the personal taste of those who can enforce them?

Painting is a prank? That's no prank at all. Try taking a dump on your cross-town rivals' mascot. Now that's a prank. I still have the scar on my a** where that Pirate caught me with his hook...

Like the pizza party idea by 'confused'. But, really, for the time constraints they must have had, as well as the detailed planning for the accomplishment of this work of art within such time - well, Alex has already populated the 'Ten Best College Pranks of All Time'. How about a High School prank catagory, buddy? (tho' I'd probably confine it to North America and U.K., okay, maybe the Aussies).

I guess I meant 'compiled', not 'populated'. But then, there's always a *little* population increase that occurs in most colleges.

Dammit, I meant to add High schools!!

And yet if it was spray paint they'd be looking to lock the kids up.

Grafitti can be art, apparently, just don't call it grafitti. (And NO, I don't consider scrawling your name in spray paint on a street sign to be art. I have seen, however, some very artistic and lovely grafitti.)

If I were "confused" (from the above post), I'd also spell "principal" correctly. What an ass

Not really a Prank... I remember doing a lot of pranks through out highschool... these are just a few of the funnier ones.

Celophane on toilets

super-glue on chair seats

petrolium jelly on the Gym floor or some other clear greese.

Plant state flowers on football field (which is Poppies here in California) on the rival school football field in a large middle finger.

Lets see what else I did before I graduated...

Oh right, rotten eggs in lockers (Poured into the vents)

Stink bombs dropped in the lunch room & auditorium during end of school pep rally.

Walking around as the Grim reeper during "drunk driving awareness week" with a fake plastic scythe and black cloak/hood.

Walking around in full plate armor all day harassing people as asking if they wanted to be a knight of disorder. When asked to leave the library shout "And this is how you treat your king?!"

Oh right, hacking into the phonemaster system that calls in absenses and have it tell the parents that their kid is stupid, retarded moron and needs to repeat high school. (Or something to that effect.) You'd be amazed how crappy network security is, they didn't even have an audit system in place to track access times.

Changed the title bar on all Windows Internet explorer bars to show school name,(all around the school district.) no one noticed for months.

Put plastic peel on fish on all of the windows around campus (expensive joke, but it was worth it, principal was on the announcements asking people to stop covering the windows with fish...) I thought it was hillarious I mean, plastic fish.... that has to be worth a few laughs when you see atleast 1000 fish around campus. I was tempted to put seaweed on the walls, but I couldn't find ways to transport enough seaweed to be worth the effort.

Just a few pranks with the efforts of many poor depraved individuals with nothing better to do than cause a little havoc and chaos. (stupid yes, funny sometimes, inressponsible? most definitely, proud? of a few things.)

Just remember, if your school has a heated pool, remember to add marsh mallows and a industrial sized bag of cocoa, Shaving creme works best for topping (Whip cream is too expensive and melts to quickly.) Or you can substitute a few hundred of those little plastic balls like they have at McDonalds.)

If you perform these or any of the pranks listed, expect to be arrested for vandalism, unless you are damn smart and know how NOT to get caught, DONT try these at home, at school, or any place public... Caution these or other pranks can get you expelled, arrested, or even beat up and harassed.. (So make it look like someone else did it.)

Mika,
I graduated in '88, our class pulled a similiar prank. Instead of buttons, we handed him stacks of phony money when he gave us our diploma and shook our hands, so at the end of the ceremony he had a huge pile of funny money at his feet. It was a pretty cool front page picture for the town newspaper.

Ok well were just two freshmen but since we have older sibvlings we have already been in many pranks. Our older used us so they wouldnt get in trouble but now that we are in high school we are watched every second of the day!Even though we are watched we maneged to pull a few harmless and harmful jokes this year!
-The first joke we pulled was to take all the pigs out of the ffa barn (which was like 15 pigs) and we.... well we killed them after the fact that they were dead we cooked them. (NOTE: My uncle works at a sloughter house!) we tooki the extra blood from the pigs and wrote we know what you do with your pigs last night on the walls of the ffa building! WE WERE NEVER COUGHT NOT YET AT LEAST!
-The other Joke weve pulled this year was blamed on another school wich was total great! lol we took our rivals color paint and pianted pin stripes up and down the hallways with it! it was great but out rivals wernt to happpy they havent got us back but im sure they wont! lol

I had a sub in school and he graduated from the high shcool that i go to now and he told me how they stole the driver's ed cars and they crashed them on the front lawn and slashed the tires so they had to be dragged off. They knew the cop that was patroling and told him not to come by at 3 in the morning and they did it. They were never caught. The next day when he was driving to school he just looked at it, cause it said class of 99' on the cars and there were tons of ppl taking picutures in front of it. He now works at the school where he pulled the prank off.

i hit a possum one night and the next night we went and picked it up, put it in a couple plastic bags and stuffed it in an empty locker down a busy hallway. By the end of the first day it smelt REALLY bad. The funny part was everyone blamed it on the brown water coming out of the water fountain ( i don't know what happened there) but it took them forever to find it.

Set goats, pigs, some kind of livestock loose in the school, and number them i.e. 1, 2, 4, 5, 6. They'll spend all day looking for the "missing" one.
