Quick Links: Fishermen Eat ‘Alien’, etc.

Fishermen Eat 'Alien'
Fishermen from the Rostov region of Russia recently caught a mysterious creature that is said to have made 'squeaking sounds'. The men were out fishing two weeks ago after a storm, and found something unidentifiable. The animal weighed around 100kg, and the men took video footage of it using a camera phone. Then they ate it.
Whilst experts were disappointed that there was nothing left of the creature, the footage has been reviewed by scientists and ufologists, and both appear to agree that there was nothing extra-terrestrial about the specimen.
(Thanks, Jen.)
Duckling Born with Four Legs
A genetic mutation meant Stumpy the duckling was born with four full sized legs. Apparently he's doing well.
(Thanks, Nettie.)
Nope, It's Soap
This website sells... well, soap that's hand-made, coffee-scented, and made to look like dog poo.
Apparently it's a great gift. If a tad surprising for the recipient.
(Thanks, Randall.)

that's not an alien... it's a henway... that's not a 4-legged duck... it's a maddayu... that's not coffee-scented, poo-shaped soap... it's rongwidmee... your welcome

why couldn't the extra-terrestrial sell his house? He had a lien on it... what do you call a mother duck's fat? Ma lard... as for the poo soap; my Mom washed out my mouth once with Ivory soap when I was six for saying the F word (it was.. the LifeBoy! Ohhhh...) Thank God it wasn't coffee poo-soap (so pure, it floats)... ukkk

The 'alien' fish looks like some kind of skate or shark.

y'now, that alien reminds me of Brittney Spears for some reason... I'm just sayin', s'all... I once drew a turkey with four legs (and two wings) in first grade art class... My teacher, Mrs. Miller, asked me what the hell was wrong with me... Ivory soap, duh

The "alien" is a rayfish I'd say.

I think we're all missing the really important question here. How did the alien taste?
Posted by Razela in Chicago, IL on Tue Feb 20, 2007 at 12:32 AM
google Jenny Haniver, the "Alien" is just a fake like the feejee mermaid.
Posted by samemo on Tue Feb 20, 2007 at 03:36 AM
Stupid fishermen. It's their own fault when baby aliens start bursting out of their chest.
Posted by CallMeLarry on Tue Feb 20, 2007 at 05:08 AM
How did the alien taste? Out of this world!
Reminds me of the cannibals eating a clown when one says "Does this taste funny to you?"

That duck is NOT a mutation. According to University of Minnesota biology professor, P.Z. Myers, who runs the popular science blog, 'Pharyngula', it is an embryo development error. Professor Myers also says:
"...it's one of my pet peeves when the media makes this wrong assumption, that every change in a newborn is the product of a genetic change."

Well I was gonna come in here and enlighten everyone that the "alien" is a skate, but everyone and their mother beat me to it
I find it very suspicious that these supposed scientists couldn't identify the creature. I'm no ictheologist and I could tell that's what it was right off the bat.

Thanks, Captain Al, I now have a good answer whenever someone asks why I'm like this:
"Embryo development error."

"Embryo development error."
Hmm, hadn't really seen the distinction before but I guess I can understand why calling this a mutation might be incorrect. But wouldn't that require examining its genetic code to insure it was 'merely' a development error and not a mutation? Either that or seeing if it breeds true? Is it that easy to tell the difference?

Who in the world looks at that thing and thinks, "I should eat this!" Ugh.

Once you get past the gag reflex you can eat all sorts of things.

My girlfriend said the same thing, Lina.

I don't know about this. They notified the media, so they obviously knew the power of the media. And even though they could have made money off of it (which they obviously knew they could) if it were an "alien," they still chose to eat it. So therefore, I can conclude that they knew what it was, they've seen it before and were not afraid to eat it. OR it never existed in the first place.

It looks like a guitarfish with knife gouges in it. All you have to do is go to an aquarium, you can find them just about anywhere...

The "Alien" is actually a Guitarfish - google it...
