Quick Links: Cheese, Aliens, Urine, & Paris Hilton

Mice Hate Cheese
The popular legend is that mice like cheese, but this legend is false according to researchers at the Manchester Metropolitan University and the Stilton Cheese Makers Association. "As part of a wider study into animals and food, they found that a mouse's diet is primarily made up of grains and fruit. It found that they would reject something as strong in smell and rich in taste as cheese. Dr David Holmes, an animal behaviourist from the university, said: 'Clearly the supposition of mice liking cheese is a popular premise.'"

15 Aliens Arrested in Roswell
A press release from the U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement announced that 15 aliens were arrested in Roswell, New Mexico. "Some of the aliens were in the process of painting these aircraft when they were arrested." Aircraft... or a spacecraft? I smell a cover-up.

Russian Urine Exporter
Need some urine from Russia? Evidently someone does, and where there's a demand there will usually be a supply. The urine comes in different varieties such as Sea Breeze, Hunter's Brew, and "Not Filtered, Original". I knew that drinking your own urine is a popular health fad, but I didn't know that drinking Russian urine is also popular.

Paris "Banksy" Hilton
image A Flickr photoset of the Paris Hilton CD doctored by guerrilla artist Banksy. The Banksy version of the CD is something I'd actually be interested in owning, and apparently a few of them are being auctioned. However, Warner Music is trying to prevent their sale.

Well, I don't know about that... because out here we use cheese on our mousetraps, and they eat it xD
We've used various types of food, and they always prefer the cheese *shrug*

Must be Californian mice.

Re Mice and Cheese:

Mice eat anything - in out 'chata' (weekend cabin?) they ate their way through tea, packet soups, soap, dishcloths, the mattresses, the plastic cap of the cooking oil bottle...

Re: Banksy

The second I heard about this prank I checked eBay - there were quite a few of them there, all with the bidding getting quite high. Banksy has become quite bankable!

Re: Aliens in Roswell

"ROSWELL, N.M. - U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) special agents today arrested 15 illegal aliens who were working for a local company here that is under contract to paint U.S. military aircraft, including Lockheed C-130 military aircraft."

Is there a big demand for paintings of military aircraft in the US then?

Can we all just be honest and finally say Paris Hilton is not hot at all, she is a hollow waif, let's not encourage her anymore, she is a media creation. This is why pop culture must die.

The information that mice don't like cheese is not new at all; I've been hearing this for several decades. "Hate" is a bit strong; they'll eat cheese but they generally prefer other foods when given a choice.

Mousetrap companies usually recommend that you bait traps with peanut butter or bacon. I've even seen "pre-baited" traps for sale that had small yellow plastic cheese wedges on the bait pan, but the "cheese" was impregnated with a peanut butter scent, as the label on the traps freely admitted.

It could be, though, that the mice in California are a different species from the ones that were tested in England.

Come to think of it, it could also be that the British mice hate Stilton but they love Gruyere or Emmenthaler or some other kind of cheese. Did they try Velveeta?

I also thought everyone knew that mice aren't particularly fond of cheese. I mean, I can respect a man who recognises a good cheese, but mice and cheese? No, not really, fits only in cartoons. I'll also say +1 to the peanut butter traps - works good. My mother, who can't stand to kill anything unless it's an insect, tries to capture mice in a humane trap (they can get in, but they can't get back out) and then release them far, far away to be hunted down by other wildlife. Peanut butter on a little bit of bread works wonders; they cannot resist it.

Then again, I also perfer to see the dog just snap their little necks and lose interest afterwards to remind me of the natural balance of nature... and to send a clear message to his little resistance that we don't tollerate insurgents.

As for Paris Hilton - A brain as small as hers won't serve her too much longer. Eventually it'll shrink further and she'll implode or something.

Hey dude, why haven't we heard anything from you about the Lonelygirl15 phenomena? All the cool kids are talking about it.

Re: Russian Urine

I've got the ad for this. It's a shot of a bottle of Russian urine with the caption: "Absolut Piss"

Ransack, there's a discussion on the forums about it: http://www.museumofhoaxes.com/hoax/forums/viewthread/2032/

Joffa, there is actually quite a market for paintings of military aircraft, not just American. However, I have the feeling that these folks were repainting the camoflage on the birds. Paint jobs on military aircraft last as little as 5 years. However, I am sure that someone will start claiming that these aliens are using special pain so that USAF aircraft can't find UFOs.

Christopher, I twisted the meaning of the article and was just having a little joke! 😊

On a side note - how often aircraft get re-painted has never crossed my mind before reading your post. Well, you learn something new every day! Cheers for that! 😊

The "Paris CD" item should really be labeled "not safe for work," or maybe "not fit for human consumption."
Not because of the pictures, of course, but because it contains the name "Paris Hilton."

Joffa, I caught your joke, I was just setting up my bad joke at the end of my comment. Long live bad jokes.

Christopher, Long live all our bad jokes. Who knows - in five years time they'll need re-painting. Now there's a future job for some enterprising young wippwr-snapper!

I want mine done in tartan.

Tell a good joke well and everyone laughs. Tell a good joke badly, everyone kind of laughs. Tell a bad joke badle, everyone groans. But tell a bad joke well and you get both the groans and the laughs. I haven't gotten anyone to throw things at me yet.

Which tartan? I'd go Henderson or MacBeath. MacBeath, not MacBeth. My great-grandmother was a MacBeath who married a Henderson.

There is a Laird living here in Tucson. MacBain of MacBean.

Just wanted to say...
I love Banksy 😊

Stop trying to educate me. I'm all educated out.
So you know your tartans. How are you on shortcake?

I see your Laird and raise you a Peer.
Posted by Joffa  on  Sun Sep 10, 2006  at  03:32 AM
Actually, I know only a couple of tartans, personal interest. And a Laird, if in the UK, is a Peer. Most Lairds, Clan Chiefs, rank as Earls or Counts.

And isn't shortcake what's used at non-fancy weddings?

As I understand it, Paris Hilton was a real popular party girl, invited to all the "cool" parties because of her wealth. Various pictures and stories about her were circulated and people who wanted to live their dull lives pretending to be connected to the rich and famous paid attention. Having a sex video make the rounds didn't hurt. If I could figure out how to avoid such stories when I want real news, I'd be much happier. But I try not to pay attention too much to women with men's names.
