Wow, good timing. As I was reading this I was sitting eating peanut butter on a spoon. Yah, I wanted it on apples but I'm all out, so I was just eating it by itself.

Might be more convienient in slice form, but I can't imagine it would have the same tecture.

They probably partially-hydrogenate all the oil in the peanut butter to harden it (and in the process create whole gobs of trans-fat). You couldn't use the same technique on jam, because it doesn't contain any fat. But jellies are routinely hardened for candy by the addition of extra sugar and pectin or gelatin. Thus there is hope for peanut butter and jelly slices. But doesn't Sara Lee or Pepperedge Farm already make pre-packaged crustless peanut butter and jelly sandwiches? I think one of them recently sued the other over patent infringement for spreading the peanut on the bread slices and putting the jelly in between. Really, I'm not making this up!

Just today I noticed imitation shredded mozzarella on sale at two local supermarkets. It was made from hydrogenated oil and loaded with trans-fat. Get your heart attack cheap.

I'll remember to thank my mom for putting the effort into making peanut butter sandwhiches FROM SCRATCH. She even used to draw a little heart on the PB with the knife and serve them open faced sometimes. I never realized how lucky I was. And she mananged to do all that and work full time.

I've seen those PB "slices" before, but they seemed fairly disgusting, so I didn't touch them.
Next we need sheets of solidified butter for people who are too lazy to butter their own toast.

Apparently, I used to live in a test market for these things, because I bought a package two years ago. While the concept is... amusing, the product itself tastes a bit like licking the devil himself. In fact, I couldn't feed these to stoners. I swear.

Stoners. Would not. Eat them.

I've seen them eat things that AREN'T FOOD, like candles, but one taste of these slices of evil and they vowed to never touch them again.

The devil tastes like heaven fallen to earth. Corrupted. Like something that should be good, like peanut butter, gone quite horribly awry.

As for feeding stoners, they're always hungry. It's a good way to get rid of things you don't want.

I seem to remember actually tasting one of these a while back. If I did, it was a lot like the peanut butter that comes between two crackers for use in children's lunches. If not, then that's what I think it would be like.

Personally, I don't enjoy peanut butter in any form, but my dog loves it. It was hard to use it as a training treat though, until I got a sample of these slices from my dog trainer. So, um, I highly recommend them as dog food, but I'd hesitate before encouraging human consumption.

It would also probably be handy for baiting mousetraps. Contrary to popular legend, people in the pest control industry say mice aren't all that crazy about cheese. They much prefer peanut butter. I've even seen traps for sale that had a synthetic "bait" shaped and colored like a piece of Swiss cheese, but scented with peanut butter.

How the hell... wouldn't, after a while, the two just sort of... combine within the jar? Peanut Butter and Jam has lost its novelty. I'm telling ya... What about the people who prefer a certain peanut butter to jam ratio? The pre-packages slices and combo jars will never tend to their needs...

The whole 'P/B' combination is quite common here. Marketed under the name "Goober Grape"...not appealing, though.

I can't see anything wrong in it. The idea is great. This way you don't have to carry you little spoon with you when you wanna eat some peanut butter, you just eat like simple peanuts.

Most peanut butters on the market have trans fat. Real natural peanut butter has the natural non trans fat oil and peanut solid separate in the jars.
