NYC’s 23rd Annual April Fool’s Day Parade

The New York April Fools' Committee has announced that, once again, the city will host a parade on April 1st. But for those planning to attend, please note that "the parade route has changed temporarily due to construction in Washington Square Park. This year the parade will detour east across Fourteenth Street to Union Square where the post-parade festivities will begin."

This year, floats will include Michael Vick "taking bets on his Dog Fight Float with caged, snarling pit bulls," as well as "a dazed Britney Spears looking for the Halloween Parade."

Inquiries about the parade can be directed to the Committee Chair, Joey Skaggs.

I'm sure the 2008 April Fool's Day Parade will be ever bit as spectacular as the previous 22. Joey Skaggs is tireless in his work as the Committee Chair, which is why the Parade always gets more than its share of media coverage.

Obviously Mr. Skaggs hasn't caught up with the NYC Parks Dept. changes. To get around the construction, he should hold the parade route on Fifth Avenue between Houston and 8th street- that route should be clear for all observers!

I would pay dearly to see a parade on 5th Avenue between Houston St. and 8th St. Andy, would you have the marchers go THROUGH the arch at Washington Square Park or AROUND it?

Will the Museum of Hoaxes have a float in the parade? Or maybe a procession of trained jackalopes leading a precision drill team of Bigfoots (Bigfeet?)?
