Leaping Nessie
Status: Fake
New video footage claims to show the Loch Ness Monster leaping out of the water. Despite the fact that the footage is obviously fake, there's a bigger problem with the claim that this shows the Loch Ness Monster. Whatever body of water is shown in the clip doesn't look like Loch Ness. Loch Ness is pretty narrow, and you can always see the other side. This footage, on the other hand, looks like it was shot on the coast of the sea.Another theory just occurred to me. Maybe what this video really shows is one of those leaping sturgeon that's been knocking out boaters lately.

Aside from the fact that the fellow in the background appears to be directing the holder of the camera to be aimed in the right direction for the "Oh my God!. Did you see that?!" surprise...

It looks more like a giant sea tortoise which are very real though I don't recall any that I've seen having such odd tails. Besides, from "witness" accounts over the years - that thing, whatever it is, is about a ton or so too small (and about 15 feet to short) to be Nessy anyhow.

It's a viral ad campaign for the new Nessie movie Water Horse. In the original, there's a frame at the end with the URL for the movie.

Even if I thought it was real, the problem is that I believe the pleaseosaur cannot leap out of water like that (and it's the closest we have to Nessie :D) It's neck would break, I've read.

You looked that up in a book. Next time, look it up in your gut.

As much as I want to believe that this is real, It isn'y. I would like to straighten out a few things, however. Just so everybody knows, I am a paleontologist.
Plesiosaurs and other water reptiles were built to be very agile, their bones were very flexible and their muscles were very strong. Paleontologists like myself have found plesiosaur fossils where there seems to be indentations and rub marks etched into the bone. That means that they had almost supernatural muscle power. And Plesiosaurs necks were specially designed so that they could twist and turn all over the place in the water. They didn't y
have super long or heavy necks, so that wasn't a problem.
Plesiosaurs were about half as smart as Velociraptors, and in case anyone doesn't know, Velociraptors are known to be just as intelligent as humans. Had they not been wiped out with all of the other dinosaurs, they would have become the dominant species on this planet, instead of us. They can interact in ways that scare me.
Also, What on earth is a giant sea tortoise? There were Archelon in the Cretaceous period, but the biggest turtle or tortoise in this century is a loggerhead sea turtle, and they only grow to be about 15 feet long at most.
In this media showing, the monster that leaps out of the water is actually perfect size for a large plesiosaur. There are small and large Nessies, I am sure that is could be a Loch Ness Monster. The only verdict is that to me, it looks like this was shot off the coast of Oahu. This is exactly what it looked like when I was there.
I actually do believe that this is a pre-version of o scene in The Water Horse. That's my review. See you guys!
