Kitler Cat Controversy
Status: Fake Kitler
A poster created by the German Green Party in Saxony and Hesse shows a cat that looks like Hitler with the tagline "you can't always recognize Nazis at first glance." The poster is meant to be a swipe at their extreme-right opponents. But the poster has provoked criticism from an unlikely source. Catsthatlooklikehitler.com has given it a paws down, complaining that it shows a photoshopped Hitler-resembling cat, instead of a real one. They write:
the German Green Party have elected to use Kitlers in their latest electoral literature... It's a shame they had to use a Photoshopped Kitler - there are lots of resident furry Furhers on here who would have loved, I'm sure, to be a model for the Greens!

One correction: the poster was used by the Greens in the election campaign in Lower Saxony, not Saxony and Hesse. Lower Saxony (Niedersachsen) and Saxony (Sachsen) are different states. Last Sunday there were elections in Lower Saxony and Hesse, but not Saxony. The articles in German media about this poster only mention Lower Saxony. I've found no mention that the Greens in Hesse also used that poster.

The fact that there is a "catsthatlooklikehitler.com" is more proof of my theory that the mother of invention is not always necessity.
My cat looks more like Rommel, by the way.
