iPod Muggings
There have been tales going around recently of iPod owners being targeted by muggers who then demand their iPods. For instance, there's this recent story of an iPod mugging in the British West Midlands, as well as a story from a month ago. Apparently it's the white color of the headphones that are making the owners prominent targets. About which an Apple representative reportedly said, "There are guys who�d rather be robbed than change the colour of the headphones." Now Engadget is casting some doubt on these stories. According to their source, the iPod muggings are a hoax.

THEN IT JAMMED TOOK IT BACK AND THEY REPLACED IT BUT THEY DIDN'T DO THE 10 GB ANYMORE SO I HAD TO FORK OUT ANOTHER 50 NOTES.ONLY NOW TO FIND IT WILL NOT LOAD THE SOFTWARE UNLESS MY SYSTEM IS ME SR4 OR XP

I was mugged for my iPod this past weekend. Three black men in their late teens/early twenties cracked me over the head from behind several times before demanding my iPod. I don't have the white headphones, and the iPod was in my bag. They either followed me from the subway, where I had been listening to it, or they just figured a white guy in his 20's most likely has an iPod. I don't know if I should bother replacing it or not. I don't feel very safe carying something so valuable around anymore.

at my school if you are seen listening ot an iPod by certain types of people they will steal it from your backpack or mug you, then resell it for about $20. A friend knew some kids were going to steal her iPod so she took it wit hher when she went to the bathroom- when she got back her backpack had been defaced and nuggeted
