House For Sale - Princess Caraboo’s Grave Attached
Status: A piece of hoax history for sale
The Bristol Evening Post reports that the house adjacent to what is believed to be Princess Caraboo's grave in Bristol is up for sale. The asking price is a fairly reasonable £299,950 (about $530,000). (I reported back in 2003 that the gravesite was in danger of being paved over to make a parking lot, but I guess that threat was averted.) I can't find the Bristol Evening Post article online, but here's the property listing. (From the date of the listing, it looks like it's been on the market for a while.) If I had the money, I would seriously think about buying it. I figure it would be a great place for a real Museum of Hoaxes. Plus, it would be close to my wife's family in Gloucester. Unfortunately I don't happen to have a spare half-million in my bank account at the moment. So much for that idea.

After searching for "1 Hebron Court" and "Bedminster", it seems that it has been on the market since 11 September 2002. Numbers 2, 3, 4, 5, 6 and and 7 Hebron Court, which are part of the same church, are or were up for sale as well. There's a history of the site here:

The problem is that it probably isn't big enough to serve as an actual museum. But it would be a great place to live. I've heard that Bristol is a nice city, though I've only been to the outskirts of Bristol, not the city itself.

I agree with Blood for nothing. Infact I think I'll start a thread about it on the forum. It would be nice to be able to go see the place where Princess Caraboo was buried while seeing other stuff from the museum at the same time.

Indeed, this would be the ideal permanent location for the Museum.
Maybe you could raise the money by offering jobs at $25 per hour, with a $10 application fee ...

Alex, I never knew your Wife's family were from Gloucestershire! I lived until 2000 with my parents, just outside Bristol, it's a beautiful City and i'm sure that one day you'll get the chance to look round it's museums & buildings. The Natural History Museum is great.
Might have to check the address out next time i'm home.
