Eye Squirting
| More from the Hoax Museum Archives: | |||
I saw this on the Guiness Record TV show a few years ago. Two guys were squirting as far as possible to see who was the new record holder. It's definitely true, and definitely weird and disgusting...

I saw it on a TV show even more reliable than ripley's believe it or not. it was on the DISCOVERY CHANNEL and he uses milk because it's the least irritating to his eye.

The thing is definitely real. Check out some Guinness World Record Books, the previous record can be seen there.

There is a guy who did this on the TV show "Steve Harvey's Big Time". Video available at http://www.thewb.com/Faces/RateIt/0,17314,139836,00.html Third one down - labeled "This guy has a different interpretation of the long jump. Watch him in his own set of Olympics."

Whose Line Is It Anyway? had a video clip of a guy doing this too.

I saw some show on how this is done. The people who can do this have a defect in the valve that allows liquid to pass from the eye to the nasal passages (thing of how your nose runs when you cry). The valve should be one way from eyes to nose, but, in these people, it's a two way from eyes to nose and nose to eye. It makes opthamologists nuts because they would hate to see someone lose an eye to something causitc being shot out of the tear duct, not to mention that it's not exactly sanitary to the eye.

Over here there showed a clip on TV, which included the detail given by Ga on the faulty valve.
Anyway, "Ut's troooo, it wuz on TV"

Hello, I'm from Turkey. This is true. There are people to check if it is a trick. And also jurnalists.

How revolting...*yuck*I

I saw a guy drink a glass of chocolate milk with his nose.

For sure it's true, I can do it myself! And many many people can too, but they don't know it. If you feel air coming out the corner of your eye when you sneeze or blow in a facial tissue, then you can do it.

Definitely true. When the Guiness Book used to have a TV show that was one of the events televised.

Completely true. I can blow air out of my eye and have had beer come into my eye when laughing while trying to swallow beer...
I don't really sit at home and try to set records or anything

I recently had a stuffy nose and an attack of the sneezes when I blew my nose to my surprise I was squirting liquid from my right eye I was mortified but it's good to know I am not alone.

I knew this anomaly couldn't be too obscure. I can do it too, and have several times. Not everybody can, obviously, but it's much more common that people think. I'm really not sure how safe it is...a couple times I did it I felt a sharp pain in my head...that milk may be going other places too...yipes...so I really don't do it much any more.

yea this is tru........and easy......i found it out when scuba diving......i waz equalising and bubbles started coming out my mask......when on dry land its just air squirting out but if i put water or milk up my nose (dont ask me how i found this out) i can then squirt it out my eyes......its supposed to be a rare condition......cool rare.......its a good party trick though

i had seen the guiness records milk shooting footage, and had known there were people who could do it. when i blow my nose, my eye often squeals, and today i found out i too can suck water up my nose and shoot it out my eye. i want to explore this more, but the pain it causes me in my ear is too alarming to try this often.

Ok, I just found out today that when I blow my nose, my left eye starts bubbling and tears come out. It's kind of freaking me out a little because I'm a smoker and I am hoping that I don't have some kind of hole in my face or something. Does anybody have any information or know where I can get answers about this. Is it dangerous, fixable, etc. Thanks.

Hey dudes and chicks so you all want to know how to shoot milk out of your eye? I can do it and the way to do it is to snort a liquid up your nose and lift both eye lids up and squeeze the top and bottom part of your eye and it will shoot it out for me when I get a bloody nose I use it for my eye which makes me look like the lizard that does it.

Like most of the people here, I found out I can do this too when I was blowing my nose and felt this funny tingling sensation in the corner of my eye. I freaked out and looked in the mirror and I was blowing tiny bubbles, but I can only do it with my left eye. I tried the milk thing and I can make milk come out but I can't shoot it any distance.
Anyway, I've heard about this before and saw it on TV years ago and thought "wow, that's really gross," only to find out I can do the same thing. Ha! They said "only a handful" of people have this ability, but from the comments by other people here, it looks like it might be more common than thought, many people just haven't discovered it yet.

According to this blog by a medical doctor, everyone should, theoretically at least, be able to squirt milk from their eye.
http://anatomynotes.blogspot.com/2006/02/fun-with-nasolacrimal-duct.html
Apparently, everyone has nasolacrimal ducts, which connect your eyes to your nose. This is why you have to blow your nose when you cry. If tears can come down the duct, it shouldn't be impossible make liquid go back up them.
So the media quoting over and over that "only a handful of people have this anomaly" isn't true at all. Again, everyone should be able to do it, but few ever try it and for others perhaps the duct isn't "loose" enough to do it without significant effort. That might explain why they haven't discovered this ability yet.

Yeah, one time I got out of the shower and had stuffy ears, so I held my nose and blew.. It worked at first, then I felt and saw something shoot out of my eye. I hate the feel of it, it felt so very weird. And i'm afraid of doing it again.. Personally, I think its gross. EWE.
