Don’t buy diamonds in a Wal-Mart parking lot
Here's one for the "If you're this stupid, you deserve to be conned" file: The victim encounters two people in a Wal-Mart parking lot who are engaging in a transaction involving a diamond. The buyer (a man) offers the seller (a woman) $20,000 for the diamond. A normal person would think, "This is an odd location to be having this kind of transaction." Instead, the victim asks if she can buy a diamond also, and gets $1900 from the bank to pay for it. Surprise! She later discovers the diamond is fake. Link:

Speaking of things you shouldn't buy at Wal-Mart, last I heard, the Gladys Porter Zoo in Brownsville still had custody of the tiger cubs that the McAllen, Texas police confiscated when some woman was caught trying to sell the cubs out of the back of her SUV in the McAllen Wal-Mart parking lot.
The Brownsville Zoo thought this was a good occasion to educate people about the problems attendant on keeping exotic pets, so they put the cubs on display along with a sign explaining why tigers make very poor housepets. But, according to the Texas Observer, everyone who comes to the zoo looks at the tiger cubs and says, "Oh, look at the kitties! They're so cute! I want one!"

Stupid people do stupid things... Paying $1,900 for rhinestones doesn't have to be one of them... I believe Walmart has a gumball machine right there at the door - with probably higher quality "diamonds" in it than what this sucker purchased in the parking lot...
