Cops Writing Cops

Cops Writing Cops claims to be a site created by a bunch of police officers in order to publicize the problem of cops who give other cops tickets for traffic violations. They invite cops who have been ticketed by other cops to write in with their stories. In their "About Us" section, they write:
Our mission is to try and bond our community by bringing the stories of how our brothers and sisters are sometimes mistreated by other brothers and sisters. Maybe after visiting this site and reading how much it really does affect other officers, you may think twice about giving that ticket. It's ONLY A TICKET! We're positive that there is someone more deserving of your attention than your own brother or sister.
Here they offer their argument about why cops should not be ticketed for traffic violations:
Best Buy employees get an employee price (which is awesome), Subway employees get free subs, military people get free hops on planes, airline employees get the jet around the world for free ($50 is free). Every profession gets some kind of 'perk'.
Whoever created the site has carefully concealed their identity. (The site was registered via Domains by Proxy.) This makes it difficult to know whether or not they're for real. But I'm having a hard time taking it seriously. It reads a lot like what someone who was angry at the police and wanted to make them look bad would create. (Thanks to James for the link)

None of those "perks" is illegal. The one CWC is advocating IS illegal.

If this is real, it just makes me dislike cops more than I already do. If, as the site claims, "it's only a ticket," then go ahead and give it to them. When a cop is off duty and is caught speeding or parking illegally, why do they not deserve the ticket, especially, if "it's only a ticket."

The fraternal order of law enforcment is a bullying one.

Makes me wonder what perks they think judges should get. . .

Or the Chief Executive of the U.S., for that matter.

Might be a set-up, but then again, cops don't tend to be the brightest bulbs and they all seem so have a sense of entitlement. It's probably real...

I agree that the site is almost certainly a hoax. But most of the police officers I have come to know over the years seem to have the attitude that minor, and some not so minor traffic violations shold not be enforced against them. Their position is that the violations would jeopardize their job opportunities and promotions. While that may be true, it is certainly the case that traffic fines and violations also can affect a non-police officer's job opportunity and promotions. Cops refusing to write other cops tickets is no myth. I have personaly witnessed such incidents, and heard of others directly from police officers.

It may be a hoax site, but it strikes very close to the truth.

if cops should not recieve tickets because they want free perks, then undercover officers who pose has prostitutes should be able to swallow when doing ther duty.

I am a police officer who got fired for writing a Cops wife a ticket! It pisses me off because no body should be above the law! If I wrote your wife a ticket for speeding and she went to court and had to pay a fine and you found out that same day that I let a police officers wife go who did the same crime because of who she was married to, would you be pissed? I would! I have written Cops, judges, government officials, attorneys and more and I am proud of it! Equal justice for all! otherwise its crap! So if your a cop and you don't like it I say this to you take your proffessional courtesy dreams and stick them where the sun dose not shine! If you speed in my town you will get a ticket you are no better than my mother, brother, nieghbor, friend or average joe. You should set a good example because of who you are and the fact that you know better! Flashing your badge unless in the middle of an emergency or for the purpose of getting out of a ticket will garauntee a ticket from me! Take That to the bank!

All professions display some sort of professional courtesy to another member..Lawyers, Doctors etc. Why shouldn't Cops get the benefit of the doubt in minor traffic infractions?..I think a cop that knowingly writes another cop a traffic ticket should be dealt with by his peers. A good dose of "standoffishness" would help him come to his senses

Since Police suppose to set the example I believe all fines for our Public Servants should be tripled, included jail time if criminal charges are proven. Police are just humans like me and you and should not be able to hide behind their tin badges. Servants, not our Supervisors!! Most dont even know what their Oath of Office is.. State Police = Gestopo , Show your papers !! 😊 Sick Puppys !!!!!!!!!!!!!!
