Coke vs. Pepsi
According to the Independent, researchers have proven that the difference between Coke and Pepsi really is all in your head. Apparently the popularity of Coke's brand image causes people to think Coca-Cola itself tastes better, even though it really doesn't taste very different from Pepsi. As the article says: "When asked to taste blind, they showed no preference. However, when the participants were shown company logos before they drank, the Coke label, the more famous of the two, had a dramatic impact: three-quarters of the tasters declared they preferred Coke." I've long suspected this. Personally I can't taste any difference between Coke and Pepsi, but I have a friend who swears passionately that there's a huge difference. Now I can show him this research to prove that he's simply been brainwashed by advertising. Oh, and the Pepsi Taste Test also turns out to be nothing but hot air: "The findings suggest there is no scientific basis for claims made during the Pepsi ad campaign in which testers purportedly chose Pepsi over Coke when they were not told what they were drinking."

Pepsi tastes a lot smoother and Coke is way too carbonated

There is definitely a difference in taste and I can tell blind-folded what is Coke, Pepsi or no-name brand cola. As for which tastes better... I like them both, but I find Coke has a better taste overall and is "stronger" / sweeter. Coke tastes great with alcohol and tastes better at room temperature than Pepsi does.

Wow! Some really radical comments here. Let's just calm down about it. One likes what one likes. Big deal?!
I personally like Coke, but that just me.

In the last two weeks, I have had both coke and pepsi, it was not related to this page, I just happened to wonder what the diffrence was after drinking them both and thinking them about the same. well, thinking back on it, I know there ARE diffrences, but i cant seem to name them.... either way, they were both good, and people who get zealous either way are not very smart. for all you know, pepsi/coke causes super aids..... he he
they are both good, but mug rootbeer is the best, and bad company 2 rules, and c4 is better ! ect, random things.

Bahaha. I drink two-liters of coke a day, sometimes four-liters. Of course, by now I can tell the taste between even coke and shasta cola - needless to say, pepsi tastes far different to me. Haha, but in my opinion coke triumphs. Even diet coke and coke zero are fails xD

I have read nearly every post on this page, and most people can see a clear difference between Pepsi and Coke.
I come from a "Pepsi family", but I never liked it. My family tells stories about trying to give me Pepsi when I was a toddler, and now I refused to swallow it-- I just spit it out every time.
This is probably because I don't like sugar, I never really have. Sweet stuff makes me gag. Coke is bubbly and has a good bite to it-- I love the feeling of opening an East Coast bottled Coke and taking that first sip where it's "hard" and cold and the bubbles fizz up my nose. It's a sensation drink. Pepsi tastes much like slimy candy goo to me, and I have only drank a Pepsi ONCE, out of desperation at a vacation house (the pipes weren't working, so no water, and there was only Pepsi in the fridge). And quite honestly, it was God awful. I went out and bought 2 dozen cokes the next day.
I'm a die hard coke lover though, a FANATIC. My room is decked out with anything and everything with the coke logo on it. I'm clearing off a wall so I can paint their logo. I love coke.
I gag at Pepsi. My friend, a Pepsi drinker (who had no taste preference, she liked Pepsi because James Dean advertised for them back in the 50s), made me do a taste test. She poured regular, east cost coke from a 2liter into a glass, and into another glass put that filth she calls Pepsi (also from a 2liter).
Unfortunately, I sipped the Pepsi first, and immediately spit it back into the glass. She was astonished. "You LOOKED!" she demanded.
Months later, I was at her house, and asked for a Coke. She returned with what looked like my request, but the second it touched me tongue, I was like..."This is a Pepsi". She was seriously shocked.
I can tell the difference between coke from the east or west coke, kosher coke, lime coke, diet coke, coke zero, cherry coke, vanilla coke, south/central american coke, fountain coke, coke from a 2l, small bottle, can, or glass bottle.
Pepsi all tastes the same to me (with the exception of their flavors)
Pepsi? Hep-C. Coke all the way.

I like the taste of coke way more than pepsi and it ain't my imagination. Coke has a more crisp flavor, probably more carbonation. Pepsi has a thick syrup flatish flavor... I also drink a lot of plain seltzer water and always prefer the brands with the most carbonation...

Coke is so much better and sweeter. It is so easy to tell the difference.

Pepsi drinkers in the family-Mother, grandmother, aunt, girlfriend, 10 yr old cousin, and female friends, basically all the females in the family drink pepsi. Coke drinkers- Me(20 yrs male), father, brother, male friends, male anybody. I think its something about the carbonation of the two that attracts its drinkers. I rarely find a woman that independently likes coke.

I was just drinking a pepsi and after about 2 hours it tasted gross and when i leave a coke out that long it still tastes good.
im a girl love coke and everything coke lovers say is true but the pepsi lovers lie its a known fact with me on this site. All my friends and family like pepsi more than coke but coke is the best. I was thinking of a science project and here it is, i would ask everyone i can to see if they like pepsi, coke, or cant tell the difference and i am going to use it i dont care what the teacher thinks someone needs to step up and get rid of peopsi it sucks!

I think coke is like Zeus and pepsi is Poseidon. That said, Dr. Pepper is Hades. Now, in serious, packaging is what you taste. Yes, the products taste slightly different but the contrasting blue and red packaging is the difference.

Personally I find no taste difference, however I do find coke has more of a bite. Thats why I prefer it

the new lids on the pepsi bottles are very painful to open please go back to the small lines on the lid,s the big groves hurt like hell.i am thinking about going to a cheaper brand just bucause of the stinking lids they should have done a servey on the lids befor retooling for the new sucky ones

Well personally i think the both are very good (though secretly i drink more coke). Coke is definitely more fizzy, more acidic, and has a light flavor, a good all around drink.
Now with Pepsi it is sweet, less fizzy and acidic, goes flatter slightly faster, and has a stronger flavor, so it's more of a drink to go with Pizza or a sandwich

I have always been a Pepsi drinker. Recently bought Pepsi Maxwith 0 calories. Very disapppointed. It is disgustingly sweet and leaves an after taste like diet sodas of any kind.Guess I will have to switch to another brand.

I prefer Coca-cola over Pepsi. Pepsi tastes way too sugary, like tea with too much sugar. Coca-cola tastes sweet, like a nectar. I have more happy memories with Coke than I do with Pepsi.
