Butt Art
Stan Murmur has a good thing going. He smears paint on his buttocks, smacks his fanny on a piece of paper, and sells the resulting product for hundreds of dollars. Is it really art? Well, no. It's Butt Art. I think this probably qualifies as something that started out as a bit of a joke, but then somehow turned into a real thing for him.

My cat has been doing this kind of "art" for years.

I notice his dong has some interest in painting too.

Nah, not since we had him neutered.
Or did you mean Stan's?

Sick, sick, sick. 'Butt' then - it's "art". Give me Van Gogh, or Rodin. Hope this guy isn't subsidized by the Federal Gov't. As a hobby - why not? Don't quit your day-job, buddy.

I guess modern point of view is that anything produced by artist is an art. And artist is a guy who is "professional" - meaning he or she does not have any other job.

The really disturbing thing about this is that Stan Murmur's "Butt Art," as art, is actually not terrible. It isn't good, but it's not awful.
So I can see how the kind of person, for example, who paid over $7,000 here last week for a painting done by an elephant at the zoo (it was billed as an "abstract," though what was being abstracted was never stated), might also be interested in paintings made with somebody's backside.

Is it me, or do all the pictures make me think of George Bush? Cheeky devil

I wonder if the butt psychic will read the art & tell its future.

(I also heard of one who works near Venice Beach, CA...but couldn't find a page for her.)
It does seem to be a popular thing to do though:

1.
I once saw a Johny Bravo cartoon where the guy somehow ended up with his butt on a canvas at an art museum. An art collecter saw the butt art and it was an instant success.
2.Why the hell would you want to hang something in your house that someone pressed their bare ass against???

I dunno, ask all those people bidding on Britney Spears' underpants and on the "toilet paper rejected by the Beatles."
Oops, I guess that last one is notable because somebody *didn't* press their bare *ss against it.

Bush's Underpants get up Lycos's nose
The big web host, Lycos, is getting more than it bargained for after banning a collage by Michael Dickinson satirizing President Bush.
The collage, titled 'Tyrant's Pants', shows the President from behind with a bare torso, pulling down his underpants to reveal a small swastika tattoo on one buttock, while a cruise missile flies out of his anus.
On May 21 Dickinson added the image to his three-year-old collage website
