Another Belle de Jour Theory
The Book Club blog has collected together more information than you'd ever want to know about the Belle de Jour blog, the supposed online diary of a London call girl that recently was published as a book. About a year ago there was a lot of speculation that Belle de Jour was really Sarah Champion, a 33-year-old music journalist. Now the Book Club blog is speculating that Belle is really a writer named Lisa Hilton.|

Reminds me of Natasha Merritt (sp?), the internet web-log writer - from just before they were called blogs, back when the hot buzzword was 'webcam' - who transitioned into the world of publishing, albeit with a book of rude photographs. Dunno what she does now. Even given the economics of producing a full-colour book of photographs, Taschen probably made more money from her pictures than Weidenfeld & Nicolson will make from Ms Jour's words, which is the key disadvantage of being anonymous; people prefer to look at pictures than to read words.

Looks rather conclusive. But has she denied it? Or even been asked?
Personally I'd always thought it was a middle-aged Oxbridge type, like Stephen Fry or Boris "de" Johnson. Perhaps they know her, via Rowan Pelling.
I suspect there is still more to this story...
