A peek into Alex’s world
In my role as fill-in for Alex while he's visiting his sister in Africa, I've developed a new appreciation for what it takes to curate the MoH.
Some days, I get dozens of emails, pitching story ideas or asking questions about some aspect of the site. That's to be expected, but what do you do with something like this:
Iam really intrested in joining the nigerian navy i have ND in architectural
technology but i dont know when the forms will be out and also wan to know
the requirments
Any Nigerian Navy veterans in the house?

Huh. Does www.nigeriannavy.ng rediret to MoH or something?

It's because of this page. We got so many postings containing personal information that we had to finally close the thread. I guess they're not quite as stupid as we thought if they can find the option to email Alex.

Ah, so THAT explains it! I figured there was a Google like to MoH because of some discussion or other and the guy who wrote to Alex/me just sent his mail to it by mistake.
I'm going to have to look at a map to see how much of a coastline, if any, Nigeria actually has.

Thanks for posting that link, Charybdis: I think I've ruptured something from laughing so much! Though I'm not convinced that Hairy or Raoul The Great didn't have a hand in drafting some of those comments...

You have to provide your own boat to join. For $50 you can be an admiral.

Nigeria has some 600 km of coastline. The Gulf of Guinea is also notorious for its piracy. I guess being in the Navy there could land you some handsome revenues.

No Craig, first you have to buy an English Bulldog from a missionary.

Okay, don't go blaming Raoul for some letter from the Navy, okay? Just because my Rosinante has been in the dry dock, does not mean she was in the Naval Yards, you get the drifting of that? Perhaps Raoul needs to explain something to you about the Ocean, okay? The ocean is a desert with its life underground, and a nice pecan pie above, alright? So don't tell Raoul about that, because I know the line at the bottom... Ha ha ha, Raoul is just twisting your leg, but you called for delivery, so there you are, Buckaroo. Rrrraoul
