Woman Killed by Frozen Urine
Kelli wrote in with a question about this strange photo showing a woman impaled by a long, yellowish-looking stick. The photo comes with this explanatory caption: "This unfortunate woman was found dead on parkland in Yorkshire, England. She's believed to have been pierced by a shaft of frozen urine which had fallen from a leak in a toilet facility of an overhead plane." Kelli wants to know if it's real. Well, of course it's not. This photo has actually been floating around the internet for quite a while. As explained over at the Darwin Awards, it comes from a spoof news program aired in Britain called The Day Today.

It seems British have a thing for such stories. It is featured
in one of David Lodge's books, I think "Small World". There,
frozen urine destroys the roof of a house, but I forget how it
relates to the main story.

Tasteless.Well, maybe not TASTEless (I can't speak from experience) but not very flavorful....
Besides, if it HAD come from an aircraft, it'd be blue, not yellow.

Yeah, I agree that the British have a thing for this. It's in Changing Place by David Lodge that a lump of frozen urine strikes a roof (in the novel then it leads to good things, though). Maybe they often think that the worst luck falling from heaven just can appear in the form of urine 
)
