Shanghai Sperm Bank Offers Helping Hand

Pictures showing a Shanghai Sperm Bank that allegedly "gives men a hand" with sperm donations did the rounds last year, and now they seem to be circulating again. The deal is supposedly that if you agree to get a health check and abstain from sex and masturbation, then you can donate your sperm 4-5 times a month. You get paid RMB200 per session. The sperm bank is located in Ren ji Hospital, No 145 Shan Dong Zhong Lu, Building 1, 7th FL, near Fu Zhou Lu, Shanghai, China. Click here and here for the pics, which are potentially NSFW.
The Shanghai Sperm Bank is real, but its nurses don't actually help with the sperm donation process. The Sperm Bank issued a press release last year insisting that "These pictures are completely misleading. We never have female nurses assisting in sperm collection, which is done by the donor himself, alone in a special room." (Thanks, Asmo!)

The photo is not from a hospital, its the kitchen of a Shanghai restaurant where the house specialty is Cream of Sum Yun Ghai.

Yes, Canadarm, there are sperm banks in China - there are even fertility clinics and such in Africa ( http://www.washingtonpost.com/wp-dyn/content/story/2008/08/13/ST2008081303789.html ) because infertility is a problem worldwide, not even just a medical one.
And frankly, such a clinical procedure as that in the picture wouldn't inspire me to donate
Then again, sperm donors *are* hard to come by ( No pun intended) as in the joke from RICK AND STEVE - "They'll leave gallons of it in every bathroom in Sa Francisco, but when someone wants it for it's real purpose, it's liquid gold!" I live in China and 200 yuan four times a month is basically nothing. I mean, it would be nice to have - it will buy you more than 30USD will in the states - and I'd do some reasonable moonlighting for it, but it wouldn't be worth that kind of inconvenience. In my part of China, a very low salary, I think, would be about 3000 yuan a month, just for comparison.
200 yuan would be, maybe, slightly more than a meal for one in a fancy restaurant. Shanghai is a bit more expensive, though, so it probably wouldn't even get you that.

Why would they ask you to abstain from sex and masturbation (except, say, 24 hrs before the Moment of Giving)?

Attractive as it may seem; I cannot see a country with a "one child" policy would need such a service.
