Museum of Hoaxes on Twitter
I recently created a twitter page for the Museum of Hoaxes, so if you're on twitter, check it out.

I'm pretty inept at this social networking stuff. I created a personal twitter page months ago, but almost never posted to it. Hopefully I'll be more disciplined about tweeting on the MOH page.

There may be a bit of a learning curve, because I still haven't figured out all the twitter lingo. RT is the only abbreviation I understand.

But I'm excited that I already have nine "followers," and I hadn't even told anyone about the page yet.

The lovely Felicia Day has written a couple of blog posts that are Twitter How-Tos.

Good for you.
Still... I would never use twitter/facebook/or whtever kinda bull like that.
And thats only because they behave like f*cking locusts on the web.
You subscribe and they hijach all your contacts suddenly to send emails to subscribe to them.
Facebook, Twitter etc are like viral locusts.
And I simply HATE them.
Every f*cking day I get emails of somebody to join one of those assh*le sites to join them simply because they joined up and then sen those emails to everybody on the hijacked lists.
So have fun fun with your highjacking twitter/facebook whatever.
BUT I WILL AND DO PUT YOU IN ALL OF MY BLACKLISTS.
I simly hate those kinda viral sites.
So thank you for signing up and giving me another load of bullshit email to join their bloody site.
It all goes from now on to 127.0.0.1
Whatever you send me from this site.
Want to contact me?
Send something to b e a s t A T g m a i l . c o m
The rest will be deleted.
Enjoy your twitter/facebook/whatever

Actually...it's the person THEMSELVES who say it's okay to contact you. When you sign up there is an option to get contacts from their address book...then they select someone. You can get around this by choosing not to select anyone.

Not true.
I contacted a lot of friends who all said they never ever opted to contect anyoane.
Whatever you do, those sites will get your contacts an send an invitation to all of them.
Facebook, Myspace, Twitter will contact whoever there is in your list, if you say so or not.
And they keep sendin "invitations" even if you decline thewm.
Bullshit sites and I simply hate them.
My adress is on my site, so lot´s of people have that adress in their contactlist.
Every f*cking day I get over 50!!! invitations.
I know because I always find them in my spambox. Again and again. From new people and from the same people. These sites go on till you accept.
Anyway.
Yes YOU can say it´s ok, but if you don´t say anything (decline what you want) it will simply invite everone in your hotmail, gmail, outlook, yahoo and whatever without you knowing it.
I´ve checked with people after I received an invitation. And we´ve checked with a made up account. You make an account, you do not invite anyone and lo and behold the invitations start to come in.
But, hell, who am I?
I´ve been working with PC´s since the first batch of IBM PC´s came to the Netherlands in 1981.
A PC I boutght together with a friend for the handsome sum of 12.000 guilders in those days, which is a lot in todays money.
I´m sure you know best.
All I know is that those sites behave like viral locusts.
And they all get redirected to 127.0.0.1

Beasjt, I'm confused. How could twitter get all my "contacts" and start spamming them? I was never asked to provide any contacts. And as far as I know, I don't even have such a list.

Umm... it was me, Alex... I gave them your list, they paid me well, and I'm not sorry. I also have Beasjt's and Maegan's lists, but I'm holding out for more cash. I also propose that "twitterer(er)ers" just be renamed "twits", in the interest of brevity and accuracy. You're welcome
