Tattoo Horror Story

Something seems wrong with this girls' story. Eighteen-year-old Kimberley Vlaminck says she asked the tattoo artist for three small star tattoos on her face, but he evidently misunderstood her, and then she fell asleep while he was tattooing her. When she woke up, there were 56 stars on her face.

The tattoo artist says she definitely asked for 56 stars, and that it's simply a case of tattoo regret. The Daily Mail, among others, has the story.

I imagine it would be hard to sleep while someone is tattooing 56 stars on your face, so I'm more inclined to believe the tattoo artist. Though he really should have made her wait a day, and write down specific instructions, before proceeding with a tattoo that extreme.

She FELL ASLEEP while somebody was perforating her face a couple of thousand times???
Either (1) She's lying, or (2) She was heavily drugged at the time.

"Though he really should have made her wait a day, and write down specific instructions, before proceeding with a tattoo that extreme."
Yes, but wouldn't most tattoo artists go broke if they waited until their clients had sobered up before giving them the tats?

Be sure to click on the link to the Daily Mail story. It has photos of the "artist" and his disgruntled client. Each of them is quite a piece of work, if you ask me.

I have to agree with Beasjt; the articles I've seen about this all suggest that she didn't come down with buyer's remorse until her father saw the tattoos. I can certainly say that if I fell asleep(?!?) in the chair and woke up with 53 more stars on my face than I'd requested, I wouldn't meekly pay the artist and leave.

I think the stars look nice but not appropriate for a permanent tatoo (particularly on the face).

There's a place here with a 72 hour waiting period. You draw up a contract with the image you want...where you want it, etc...then you can come back in 72 hours & get it done. They have a TON of business! Everyone wants one of their tattoos. They aren't losing business by making people wait!

At the very least, I think that I'd want to have a document where my customers write down what they want and sign it. Then I'd have a record of what they wanted, in case something like this happened.

I think they look nice. She should keep them. It's more interesting than white scarring, like the artcile said she would have.

Her story is not even remotely believable. She'd rather try to get the tattoo artist in trouble than admit to her father that she ASKED for this.

I know a lot of people find it hard to believe anyone could sleep through a tattoo - but my boyfriend dozed off getting his tattoo done. Admittedly, his was on his shoulder, not his face, and he's pretty relaxed about pain (not in a kinky way though!), but still - it's possible.
And I do think they look kinda cool. But might look pretty silly when she's old, and will probably make getting a professional job tricky...

You too can have her stars!

Simply upload your foto to The Kimbalizer

@kat
Your back is something completly different than your face. Specially that close to your eyes. And shoulders are not that sensitive.
Besides that. Do you really believe she doesn

"not his face, and he's pretty relaxed about pain (not in a kinky way though!)"

Good thing you cleared that up for us. We were worried it was the kinky way. 😛

I worked at a tattoo studio. If we had slots open for the day, you could have a walk-in appointment. More often, however, we were booked so you had to schedule your appointment.

Also, I saw a guy get a tattoo on the side of his head (had a mohawk and had a dragon tattooed above each ear). I never saw someone in that much pain. So, sleeping through a tattoo, especially on the face where there are a lot of nerves, not going to happen... unless she were drugged.

Just in:

It appears to be a hoax/viral.

Link and have fun with google translate.

It seems it was a thickly set henna "tattoo".

Yup, it was an ad agency that set it all up.
The 3 stars that ought to become the first tattoo are the logo of the company.
What a massive waste of time.

so it is a hoax?
maybe the hoaxnews is a hoax itself..

today still news came out:
http://www.bild.de/BILD/news/2009/06/18/56-tattoo-sterne/kuenstler-will-laser-op-bezahlen.html

it says that the tatoo guy has to pay 3000 euro for a lasertreatment.

That offer is from 2 days ago. The germans are lagging behind.

If it's a hoax, it's a stupid one and was not believable from the beginning.

No, not a confirmed hoax so far. The radio channel first reported to have started it as an advertising stunt, denies involvement.

The story keeps changing though, she now claims it is likely she fainted instead of falling asleep.

On the website of the Flemish regional TV, it is claimed that the stars have been inked too deep into her skin to be removed properly. I'm not sure whether this claim is accurate because the article claimed normal tattoos are put 3 mm into the skin and Kimberly is supposedly tattoed 2 cm deep! I dunno, but I doubt anyone has 2 cm of skin on their forehead.

They're thinking of changing the law now, so that customers have a two day period to think twice about getting a tattoo.

Silly girl, why she went to an tattoo artist that didn't even speak her language and with whom communication was therefore difficult, I'll never guess. I think she just didn't think things through and now wants to blame it on somebody else.

2 cm deep? That figure has to be wrong. No human has skin 2 cm (almost an inch) deep. At least, not on the face. I can imagine that you *might* have skin about that thick on the soles of your feet, if you walk barefoot everywhere.

Turns out that when I said:

"Her story is not even remotely believable. She'd rather try to get the tattoo artist in trouble than admit to her father that she ASKED for this,"

I was exactly correct. Yay for semi-random guesses!

Though I think the story is BS I do want to clarify that it is not to uncommon for some one to fall asleep while being tattooed more so if it is not your first one.

But this is why most places wont tattoo your face Cause "You Will Regret it later."

Many places ask you to wait before getting a tattoo they think you will regret or somewhere you will regret.

Plus how in gods name do you get 3 and 56 mixed up?

No offense I think this is a kat von d wanna be lol
Posted by BrilliantOddball  on  Wed Sep 02, 2009  at  10:37 PM
And I think she did it intentionally. And then just decided to become famous. Unable to sleep when you're doing a tattoo that's a painful process
(I apologize for any inaccuracies in the translation)

I agree with olvus. It is impossible simply so to fall asleep when tatu do you
