Cheesus and Mary
Status: Pareidolia
Two examples of religious pareidolia have made headlines recently. The first is "Cheesus" -- a Jesus-shaped Cheeto found by Steve Cragg, a youth director at Memorial Drive United Methodist Church in Houston. He actually found it a couple of years ago, but decided to unveil it recently in honor of Easter.
The second is the Virgin Mary on an Easter egg. KGBT reports: "Veronica Cervera said she was making "cascarones" by dyeing hollow eggshells on Good Friday when an image suddenly appeared. Cervera is convinced it's the Virgin Mary." I can't see the image at all. It looks like a white smudge to me.|

Thalidomide Jesus

The glare of the photo light wipes out any discernable image for me on the eggshell. The Cheeto looks like a lot of the sculptures from Neolithinic times.

That Jesus was bright orange is sort of plausible, if you assume that he had a metabolic disorder involving carotene metabolism and/or jaundice, but I never realized he had such short arms and legs (outeast, I'm pretty sure Thalidomide didn't exist circa 4 BCE). It seems like this would have been mentioned in somewhere in the Scriptures.

People really gotta stop seeing images of Jesus in things. God forbid a cheeto should look like a cheeto...

I'm sure it's been mentioned before, but does anyone else know about the deal with the Old World Santa Claus face appearing on one side of a split peanut, sans shell? Just asking. It might not be Santa to some, more like Gandolf in a hair net. Oh, the egg smudge looks like an albino cave bear turned upwards.

I just got released from the hospital after having my appendix removed (hence my absence from this site for several days).
I'm wondering if my scar looks like Jesus. I'll have to have my wife take a look. I could use an influx of money from believers to pay the doctor and hospital bills.
