Nigerian Bulldog Scam
Status: Scam
image The latest in the long series of what are known as 'Nigerian Scams' is one featuring bulldog puppies.

Three red flags went up when Mindy Gorman enquired after a $500 bulldog advertised on the Savannah Morning News website. When she emailed the sellers, they replied with an announcement that the puppies had been sold, but:

"... You're lucky to have mailed at this time because the puppy has just been placed on adoption by one of my customers, who went on a veterinarian work transfer with the West African veterinarian commission Lagos Nigeria, West Africa. He is giving the pup up for adoption because he cant take good care of the pup due to his busy and tight state of work. All he wants is someone that's homely and with a good christian home to adopt this young and lovely human best friend."

Then there was the fact that the seller was in Nigeria. Thirdly, when she offered to pay to the transport of the puppy using Pay Pal, the seller, who identified himself as 'Pastor Harry', said that he would only accept a $500 payment sent to Lagos via Western Union.

Ms Gorman did not go through with the transaction, but another customer in the area lost $900 on the scam.

Jeff Thomas, with the Savannah office of the U.S. Secret Service, was unaware of the Nigerian puppy scam. But the details, including the offer of English bulldogs in a state where the biggest football mascot is the same breed, didn't surprise him.
"These folks are not dumb," he said. "They may do their homework in terms of regional interest. People here are nuts about Georgia football."
Thomas suggests puppy lovers approach any Nigerian offers with skepticism.

I've recently placed a comment on this website because if it were not for this, I would have been scammed by these scum!! I notified the local paper that was running these bogus ads, however, the ads are still there. I signed up with a new address and inquired about a "baby"...this is the e-mail that was sent back...it's a bit different than the others so take note....
---The puppies I advertised has been adopted by one Mrs Elizabeth Campbell from Alaska and i just got an email from her that the puppies is doing quite well with her and her family .
Now I would like to refer you to one Mr Kim Craig . He graduated from Concordia University in Ann Arbor , Mich as an enginnear and he associates with one building company here in the State .
He bought an english bulldog puppy of 10 weeks old from me as well. he has been transfered to West Africa for a contract that was awarded to his company here in the state . so he is to supervise the contract in west africa , he went there with his English bulldog puppy he bought from me, Unfortunately, Africa is not the right place for this type of dog. he contacted me 2 days ago to find a caring parent that will adopt his puppy and must be ready to pay for the shipping fee alone which he said it was $350. to ship the puppy back to the state. he has no time for the puppy because he never knew how tight his wok schedule in africa was and also the african weather is so harsh according to him and this is really troubling him and his mission in West Africa.
Contact Kim Craig as soon as possible and tell him I reffered you to him. he would be excited if he knows you are from me. Below is his email address: Get me informed as soon as you adopt the puppy from him, because i think the puppy will have a goog home here in the USA .
Best Regards,
Catherine.

I have been scammed the last two days of $700.
They ran an ad in the classifieds under lilian for $500 for a 12 week old english bulldog. She emailed me back and said she had already got rid of her. Then a few days later sure enough she emailed back and said the person she sold her to was going to Africa and it was to hot there for her so they wanted to send her back here so she gave me the email address of and sure enough he said he could have her on my doorstep the following day if I sent the money that day and I did!! Unfortunately!!He said he needed $460 to fly her back to the US. Then the next day he said he was at the airport and needed an extra $200 for a terriorist card and something else and once again I was stupid enough to send more money. I have not heard from him since and still no dog. Which he said her name was Dolly!! So don't fall for this scam like I did!!
