Interviewer Who Can’t Stop Laughing
Status: Fake
image A (foreign language) video clip is going around that shows a talk-show host interviewing a man and a woman. When the man starts speaking, the interviewer cracks up. The more the man speaks, the more the interviewer laughs. It's a funny video, because the guy's laughter is highly contagious. But was this a real interview? No. The clip comes from a Belgian comedy TV series called In De Gloria. Apparently the faux interview is about medical mishaps. The woman is paralyzed because of a surgical error, and the man's voice was altered by a throat operation that went bad.

"absolutely no verifiable information whatsoever if this clip is real or not"

Alright, Medicineman, you show me proof that the SNL sketch I saw on sunday was not real... And suppose I don't speak English... IOW, imagine how silly it looks to us (Belgians), knowing they're comedians, seeing them on TV regularly, that people keep asking proof. Most of you guys believed the WMDs & terrorist links in Iraq, so I'm sorry if I don't put too much trust in your ability to seperate the bull from the shit wink

And Belgian is not a language, the majority of Belgians speaks Dutch (Flemish), the rest French and a tiny minority speaks German.

I'm sure I could find some proof better suited to your tastes, but I just can't be bothered right now, nor do I see the need anymore.

And seriously, you looked for proof but couldn't find any... that says enough, there's plenty of proof that even a 10yr old could find. And not being able to navigate on the Gloria site is doubtful, I navigate and find my way around Italian, Spanish & other language sites all the time without knowing the language. Guess I'm a bit more worldly than you.

It is not real, Take a good look at the responses of the public. Especially the guy behind Erik Hartman. When he starts laughing there is no response whatsoever.
And the translation is quite bad. I am Dutch.

I found a long clip on Youtube with subtitles. I had no idea it was fake! http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=kXf3wx5nPXU

Also the version of the video that claims (via English subtitles) that the guy's voice has gone high because he's had his testicles removed is making a common misconception. People associate high male voices with castration because of the "castrato" phenomenon ("Wikipedia" it). But it only works if castration occurs before puberty, so that the boy retains their childlike voice.

Put simply, having your balls cut off won't suddenly make your voice go high!

For those who still doubt this is fake: Look at the white haired lady sitting behind Boemerang, one moment she looks like she's trying hard not to laugh either, next moment she has the same disapproving look as the other guests. And a few moments later, she's back to the almost smiling face.

----------------------

The company responsible for In De Gloria (the show that the Boemerang sketch is from) is Woestijnvis, a Flemish-Belgian television company.

No prob!

I've been doing some research also and I am also having some trouble trying to find out if this actually happened or if it is a hoax. Someone please shine some light on this for me.

Well, for years I’ve been thinking this was real. I never really questioned it as I was focusing more on the human aspect of this video... in being torn apart between “unstoppable laughter” and pity (for both, the interviewer and the victim).

When I learned this was a fake, I was disappointed... up to the point where I thought I didn’t like the clip anymore.

But now... in retrospective, I think this really is a very funny clip. Further more, we must admit the acting is absolutely delightful and that the production is brilliant! Also, we should not be calling it a ”fake”. It is an act... their intentions were not to deceive people but to entertain them.

Sam, said... “For those who still doubt this is fake: Look at the white haired lady sitting behind Boemerang, one moment she looks like she's trying hard not to laugh either, next moment she has the same disapproving look as the other guests. And a few moments later, she's back to the almost smiling face.”

I not sure this is a proof nor a clue. If this were real and if I was there then this would definitely be my reaction. I’m not saying this is not an act... I’m simply pointing out this should not be considered as a proof.

Ciao!
