Interviewer Who Can’t Stop Laughing
Status: Fake

A (foreign language)
video clip is going around that shows a talk-show host interviewing a man and a woman. When the man starts speaking, the interviewer cracks up. The more the man speaks, the more the interviewer laughs. It's a funny video, because the guy's laughter is highly contagious. But was this a real interview? No. The clip comes from a Belgian comedy TV series called
In De Gloria. Apparently the faux interview is about medical mishaps. The woman is paralyzed because of a surgical error, and the man's voice was altered by a throat operation that went bad.

There's a translation out there for what the presentor is saying - the guy had his testicles removed against his will in a medical mishap. I'm not sure it is fake, but can't be sure.

I've seen this on that VH1 show 'WebJunk20' or whatever it's called...

Man, if there's anything funnier than paralysis and medical mishaps, I don't know WHAT it could be.

It's from "in the Gloria" indeed. The "presenter" is actor Kris Focketyn in his alias "Jos Vermaelen". It's indeed about medical mishaps.

Yeah, I've seen it on a rerun once.
Having seen some of their other shows, I think they would be really good hoaxers.

hehe im form holland and it is in my language so; his balls were not amputated.. He just had some pain in his troat and the doctor said that he need to had a treatment for his almonds.. And then this was the result..
And the presenter is Erik Hartman, when u see the hole video it's said in the intro.. all in dutch..
And it was real because it was a real new program and there was a plot against it because it was about emotions and that was so new for that time. Most programs were about other things. Mostly the presenter had the ability to talk to the geusts before the live show began. But now he couldnt talk to him because unknown reasons. SO they think it's a plot against his program because he was fired directly after the sow ended..

Well, you MAY have me there, Big Gary, but it's gotta be WIDESPREAD famine, I'd say, to be REALLY funny. That whole Darfur thing is a real knee-slapper.

famine
That was a coffee-on-keyboard moment.

The guy from holland who says its real doesn't know what he's talking about, it is most certainly from a show called 'In de gloria' which was a parody on reality-tv and human interest items.
It was also a funny as hell show

It is nice to smash somme illusions. 'In De Gloria' is not a real talkshow but a comic show. All people are actors.

The show is real. I can say this because I happen to be a professional TV producer and also understand the dialoque perfectly well, and there are a number of cues by which one can identify that the show was real and live and not acted. It is near impossible to generate the spontaneity that one sees in the show, and if Erik Hartman was acting, he would be such a brilliant actor that he would be a greater celebrity than Frank Sinatra. Also, much of the dialoque is mumbled and if it was an act, there would have been a retake or two to until everything was clearly audible. The camera angle for many of the views are not exactly ideal, which gives another clue that it was not staged. The anger of Valair (the guy whose tonsils, and not his testicles was damaged) is also very real and very obviously not acted, same with the guy with the gruff voice. Valair would also have been a brilliant actor and in line for the next 007 movie. If especially the closing scene was indeed acted, it would have been a very poor production and would not have been passed by the producer of the show. It is a brilliant piece of humor, at the cost of Marijke, Valair, the unidentified hoarse voice guy and of course Erik Hartman himself. Thanks you guys, for entertaining us in such an unselfish way. I am just very curious to know what the viewing number of this clip is. Anybody with info on this? In my book it is the funniest think I have ever seen and I cant stop watching it.

No, Jerry... You just don't understand non-American comedy. This is a sketch from In De Gloria, a Belgian comedy show. All the people involved are well known comedians in Flemish Belgium (the Dutch-speaking part of the country). Do a search on YouTube/Google/Wikipedia for 'In De Gloria' or 'Tom Van Dyck', you'll see the guy who plays the host in other roles. The high voice dude is Lucas Van Den Eynde, and the woman is Ann Miller = all comedians. I'm Belgian, so it this show, so I think I know our own shows & actors a little bit better than you do, thank you very much.

Ok I have spent some time trying to find credible information whether this clip comes from a real TV show or not. So far (after some hours of research), I have read ca. 1.000 postings dealing with the topic in various internet forums, google, altavista, youtube, myspace etc. etc.. What the postings have in common is that they contain absolutely no verifiable information whatsoever if this clip is real or not. Ups! Surely, this is just coincidence
Some say, oh this is a sketch coming from a comedy group or show or whatever named "In de Gloria". And they tell us, oh yes, "somewhere" on this In de gloria site - which is belgian as far as I can see and I cannot speak belgian - there are "hints" that they think prove this, they say. Of course, they dont have links or anything else, they just have a direct link to In de Gloria (LOL!). This is a whole new way of dealing with problems, next time if someone asks me about a specific computer problem, I just give him the link to Microsoft.com - surely, the answer is somewhere in there. Good that Microsoft.com is in english and not belgian.
They also cannot specify the hints more clearly than saying "oh yes there is an actor there that looks like the one in the sketch". Somewhere, in there

And thanks to the ultrahigh quality of the video (youtube

) its so easy to clearly identify persons!
Then, there are other postings indicating that the show was real, for example:
-----------
Hey,
If this one is real I don’t know.
I do know that as a kid (a Flemmisch kid indeed)I watchted Boemerang on the Belgium (BRT) television many times.
And it was mister Erik Hartman who was the host.
I also do know that the program was stopped very suddenly.
-----------------
So - as this is the museum of hoaxes I bet you surely thoroughly verified the subject - so tell me something tangible please.
I bet a small direct link to a DVD containing this particular sketch sold by "In de Gloria" would be no problem. Or a copy of the email if you inquired there (not the inquiry email please but the answer

).

Urgh. How silly can you get? Of *course* this is a fictional clip. Do a simple search for "in de gloria" on YouTub and you'll see the same actors in various other sketches they did for the programma.
Search for the actors (Sien Eggers, Frank Focketijn, An Miller, Wim Opbrouck, Lucas van den Eijnde, Tania Van der Sanden and Tom Van Dyck) on Google and you'll find CVs, pictures, etc.
