Circle of Gnomes Found in Forest
Status: Prank
The Garden Gnome Liberation Army has been
in the news recently:
Twelve garden gnomes kidnapped in western Sweden a month ago have been found in a snowy forest, standing in a ring beside a lighted bonfire and a small hut, Swedish news agency TT reported. "It looked very cozy," Bo Larsson, a police officer in the town of Kil, near Karlstad, told TT on Friday. The gnomes mysteriously vanished from their gardens just before Christmas. A letter from the "Garden Gnomes Liberation Army" later claimed responsibility for their disappearance, explaining that the dwarfish figures had pined for freedom.
The gnomes were returned to their former owners.

I always wonder how people 'identify' them. I mean, if I had the average gnome, and one of the ones to be returned was cooler than mine, I'd be tempted to pick the wrong one out of the line-up.

If I were the one to find them, I wouldn't want to move them. At least not until after I take a TON of pictures!!

Who even owns a garden gnome? I don't think I've ever actually seen one in person.

"Who can own the sky, or the sun? Who can own the forests and lakes? Who can own the animals and the meadows? Who can own a garden gnome?"

I'll fess up. I own a garden gnome. It's a clear copyright violation of the gnomes in the GNOMES book from 20 years ago. It's about 5" high, on a swing, and it's hanging from the tree that my twins' swings are hanging from. They take turns pushing each other, and it.

Boo--
A gnome is like a child. How can you honestly say that you would abandon your own gnome, the gnome that faithfully stood guard over your garden day after day, night after night, for someone else's beloved "cooler" gnome?
You should be ashamed of yourself. As should this "Garden Gnomes Liberation Army" for driving gnomes away from their loving families to shiver, lost among strangers, in a cold heartless forest.
Gnomes--Listen to what your heart tells you. Do not be swayed by the false promises of the GGLA.

It is not fair to make Gnomes into slaves. If you have made a gnome into a slave you should set it free and send it to rehabilitation. The legal form to set your Gnome free is at a website called
http://www.geocities.com/gnome_reserve. They have a bunch of Freed Gnomes and a Gnome Underground Railroad and they give counseling to Freed Gnomes. love, Joey
