Ronaldinho Nike Ad
Status: Undetermined (but I'm guessing fake)

Nike has
a new ad featuring Brazilian soccer star Ronaldinho Gaucho. In the ad Ronaldinho puts on a pair of Nikes, juggles the ball a few times, and then kicks the ball towards the goal so that it hits the crossbar and bounces directly back to him. He does this four times in a row. And it's all shot in a single take. This has inspired a lot of discussion on the net, because it's hard to believe anyone could be skilled enough to do this. In
an article posted on the BBC (in Portuguese... I read it via AltaVista Translate) Ronaldinho swears that the scene is real, although the reporters interviewing him refuse to believe him. Given that it's an ad, I would assume it's fake, since one should always assume that what you see in ads is bogus, unless it's proven otherwise.

Fat Boy Ronaldo, that is BS. Honestly, don't say stuff like that.

whoever thinks this is real is a complete knob head. yes hit the cross bar is one thing, (even i could do that) but hitting the crossbar and making it return to your chest is another thing altogether. i say with enough tries over a few hundred he would be able to do it at least once. but never 4 times in a row. and on the first take.

It's not an example of argumentum ad ignorantium, razzendahcuben.
If, in the course of discussing a work of fiction, I said that, "Well, it's a novel. Therefore, the events described probably didn't happen in real life." Would you call that an argument from ignorance? I wouldn't. I would call it recognizing that certain genres, such as fiction and advertising, don't follow the same conventions of truth-telling as genres such as news reporting do.

And what if its fake? his the best player in the world so go envy haters you know thats real.
and that idiot child that put that picture that you can clearly see she painted over the ball is just sad, sad that people with no lifes have the time to try and ruin something....

This ad is actually real, there was an interview on Good Morning America with the Marketing Director for Nike, he said that they had asked Ronaldinho to go out and try a few things as practice/taping and the commercial is what they ended up with.

I do not beleiven the video. If he can lob the ball and make it hit the exact place on cross bar why did he miss the penalty last season. How come in 4 free kicks only around 1 gose in and 80% don't even hit the target. why doesn't he make it hit the side of da post and impossible for keeper to get then score off deflection. It cannot be done

theres a simple explanation for him missing free kicks DURING A GAME. when the commercial was shot he was just messing around at a practice, no pressure. BUT, at the game there were thousand of people watching at one instant and millions watching at home. Nobody can argue that anyone would get nervous at i time like that. i believe in ronaldinho. crazier things have happened.

I think the first two shots were real but after that its gotta be fake. The goalposts are round so he would have to place the shot perfectly with an exact amount of spin to get it come back that many times. I do believe a player like Ronaldinho, who is simply a wizard with a soccer ball, probably has the skill and luck to have it bounce off twice right back to him though.

I think that Zlatan is the biggest star Nike has for now. Dinho have not played well this year and I think his best years as a fotballer is over, sadly.
