Caltech Vs. MIT
A group of Caltech students heads to MIT to throw down the prank gauntlet. They spend the weekend handing out t-shirts to prefrosh that read "MIT" on the front and "because not everybody can go to Caltech" on the back. During the night they spell out the letters C-A-L-T-E-C-H on an MIT building using a low-power laser. They also hang a banner on the MIT dome, changing its name from 'Massachusetts Institute of Technology' to 'That Other Institute of Technology.' They now await MIT's response. (make sure to check out the page of pictures of the pranks).

I don't know if what I'm about to describe is a hoax- it's more of an event that started out as a prank. Here we go: In the first week of March, 1974, approx. 600 University of Delaware Students engaged in what became know as The Great Deer Park Streaking Riot. It seems that the crowd had gotten somewhat large at The Deer Park Hotel, a historic inn in Newark, Delaware. Due, no doubt, to recent gigs by hometown-boy-made-good George Thorogood at The DP. As was the rage at the time, several students streaked thru the parking lot, then thru the bar. Word spread, more students arrived, and soon beer and liquor were consumed in the lot, as more streakers joined in. Topless women soon adorned the shoulders of drunken college kids, and the party grew... until the cops showed up. The University Police, The Newark Police, The New Castle County Police, and The Delaware State Police all joined in on the fray. When the smoke cleared, 50-plus students had been arrested, the remainder chased down main street by tear gas, and 3 police cars lay in smoking, overturned, ruin. Cool, aint it?

Chaos, beer and topless women - all make up the components of Hairy's daydreams.

Man... I wish I had the intellegence to be able to go to Caltech or MIT... But then again I hated my programming class...
Anyway, I thought the pranks were hilarious. Any prank that requires a group of college students to fly to another university just to put up banners and blow up plastic palm trees is truely hilarious. Plus I want one of those T-shirts... Those really made me laugh.

Hate to break it to you, Fay-Fay, but you should be glad you didn't go to Caltech or MIT. Caltech, at least, is a hellhole, and the people who did the prank are a bunch of weiners. Just a thought from a disgruntled alumnus.

I can't not say the same. With MIT, althought it was hard, it was in many ways paradise. As the saying goes, IHTFP (I have truly found paradise or I hate this ___ place). -- An MIT double beaver.
