Aicha Kid Suicide Video
One of the many random viral videos that floats around the internet is this 'Aicha Kid Video' that shows a skinny teenager singing and dancing to the song 'Aicha'. But before you click on the link to see the video, first read about the urban legend that accompanies the video, because I think it makes the video itself much more interesting. According to the UL, there's an 'uncut' version of this video, and in this uncut version... well, this poster from ebaumsworld summarizes it better than I could:it is hard to get the unedited one, most of them stop after he is dancing. In the full version after he dances, he gets a knife out from under his minnie mouse comforter and slits his throat. He bleeds out all over his adidas sweatshirt and falls on the floor. The camera keeps taping for another 5 minutes until the tape runs out. I think you can get the full version on www.rotten.com. Ya it is sad.
So does this uncut suicide kid video actually exist? I don't think so. At least, if it does I can't find it anywhere. Though in a variant of the UL, the non-existence of the extended video is explained away by the fact that the skinny kid's parents supposedly filed a lawsuit to get it removed from the internet. If the video does exist I'm sure that I'll hear about it eventually, but I'd bet good money on it just being a stupid rumor.

I'm not laughing about the idea of a videotaped suicide, but rather the hilarious assertion that one could sue and have something taken off the internet -- as if the internet was a single computer sitting somewhere with Rusty the janitor overseeing it.

Yea, once something's on the internet you can never remove it. If this video ever hit the net then it's still there. And it shouldn't be too hard to find since this kind of thing seems to be popular. If Usenet doesn't have it then I would have to say it's a hoax.

Just my hunch, but somebody dancing around like that must feel pretty good about the thought of suicide, because he doesn't look depressed, distrought, only like he needs more practice.

I just thought about it after watching. If he died at the end of this, who did the editing, because the effects and the multiple scenes needed to be edited together. I don't think any friends or parents would work on a suicide music video.

Well, maybe it was in the suicide note...
or maybe after getting over the horror and sadness when his parents burst into his room and saw his lifeless body they thought "Hey, wouldn't it be nifty if we edited his video tape, added some cool digital lettering and posted it on the internet?"

This is a variant of the old "snuff film" legend (which goes back at least to the early 1970s, when I first heard of it). According to this tale, there is a clandestine industry of making pornographic movies (or videos, DVDs, etc.) in which the subjects are killed, for real, on camera. These flicks are then retailed for high prices to wealthy people with, shall we say, rather extreme tastes in entertainment.
However, nobody has ever come up with any evidence that I'm aware of that such movies exist, or have ever existed. There may have been a few people who acidentally died on movie sets or the like, and then footage somehow leaked out, and of course there are many films of simulated deaths, but a true snuff film would have to include the filmmakers deliberately instigating the real killing of a person during the course of one of the scenes, preferably in a manner calculated to heighten the sadomasochistic excitement of it all.
None of the people I've spoken with who believe that such movies exist has been able to give me a verifiable example of one.

It seems that there should be a lot of suicide videos on the World Wide Web by now, since there are still a good many people killing themselves every year, and digital cameras, webcams, etc. are now so commonplace that some of the suicidists (suiciders?) must be suitably equipped to document and broadcast their own demise.
Yet all the reports of such spectacles I've heard of so far seem to be hoaxes.
Could it be that society has not yet become totally depraved?
... No, that couldn't be it. There must be some other explanation.

There's at least one floating around that Snopes has verified. You can find the clip here. The clip does take a while to load, and the whole thing is remarkably low key and not terribly "dramatic", hence it's lack of wide appeal, perhaps. I think you can reasonably assume that society finds genuine suicide footage to be somewhat disappointing, and would much prefer Hollywoodised versions.

Ah, the old "snuff" films. By the story, made in Mexico and smuggled accross to sell for huge profits. I never heard it explained how the producers could keep the crew silent wihtout killing them also. Big Gary C, do you remember the George C. Scott film about a father trying to find his daughter before she ended up in one of those? Classic Hollywood. Real suicide is probably so undramatic that no one would ever watch. Although maybe not, the murder videos of the hostages in Iraq have a wide audience from what I've heard. Maybe there would be a market for "snuff" video and violent suicide videos. Human nature is pretty constant throughout the world, maybe it would appeal to people's dark side.

Even if someone actually made a real snuff film, who would believe it? It's not worth the trouble, everyone would think it was a hoax anyway. Might as well just make a great fake.
There was a really well done one of a woman being forced to shoot herself in the head. I saw it on Wayweird.com. It was determined to be a fake, but damn it looked real. Very disturbing. Has anyone seen that one?
What movie was that where a woman suffocated herself on camera and her friends helped her film it and then were investigated for murder? I can't think of it. It wasn't until they watched the whole film that they realized she had killed herself. I think she was terminally ill. Damn it I hate when I can remember the name of a movie. Someone help me.
