Yes, Jim's dad passed Nov. 17th and the date it trickled down to the public was approx. Nov. 28th, when someone who knew Jim posted it on
THE DOORS website. Eleven days is indeed a long time to make the Admiral's passing known. I also wonder why it took his parents almost 20 years to visit Jim's grave.

Yesterday I read Alain Ronay's version of what happened July 2, 3. He had spent most of the 2nd with Jim. According to this version, he (Alain) and Agnes Varda were called to the apartment. Alain's story makes it sound as if Jim was left to lie in the apartment, with the "ice man" coming on a regular schedule to put dry ice on Jim's body. Alain makes no mention of his body being taken to the Medical Institute for 3-4 days and leaves the reader to believe Jim was left in the apartment the entire time.

Do you think John Densmore knows more than we do about Jim??

I notice our debate is once again turning in circles..so for the sake of those who do not know the proceedure for disposal in France I will repeat.
1) In any suspicious death, the local police are called in to verify that there is a corpse
2) A local Corroner is called by Police to decide if there is "Foul play" involved
3)Whether of not "foul play" is involved the police decide whether to issue an investigation.

There was no investigation with regard to Jim...also those from America must understand thad cremation is extremely rare here..it seldom happens.

Also in France we protect our dead...we dont rip them out of their graves just to satisfy the morbid curiosity by doing DNA..or skull reconsruction! although I understand why fans would want it

Thank you for your post in sharing the French procedures. I do understand they are different than ours.

I do have one question though. Jim was taken to the Medical Institute in Paris.. back in 1971 would you know if that was a hospital? I am not sure of the translation of medical institute or it that what the French would call a funeral home.

Today would have been his 65th birthday. As I said I try to keep an open mind, but deep down I dont believe he is alive, so I'll end this discussion and hope that all of us fans remember him on this day...also John Lennon.

I personally knew Jim, and there is no way this dude is him. I saw some pictures of this fake guy, the nose is not the same, in one picture he's smiling and has a gap in his incisors that Jim never had. How about some Facial Recognition against some real pics of jim & DNA for real proof. Scientists have just revealed on Jims' 65th Birthday a picture of what he would look like at 65, at this uglty dude doesn't even com close! 5 to 1 - I was one of the 5! I'm the one who added another photo matching thing on YouTube a while ago... http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ph0-FhGreZg I was amused enough by the idea to give it a closer look. I think some of the pictures and the voice are in the realm of what might be expected if JM is alive today, so it is intriguing in that sense. I think the facial and nose features match quite well (check out the curve in the noses that I point to in the video), but I'm no facial aging expert, by any means, so who knows.

But the whole thing is also absurd in some ways... And some of the pictures on the Rodeos West site are sketchy, as if the guy looks different entirely from other pictures, and the arms are blotted out in a couple pictures, and the resolution is very small. Anyway, I'm 99% sure it's a scam, regardless, but there is that little glimmer of possibility that it really is Jim. I'm not ruling it out yet, at least, but I'm also not paying for that video, either, knowing it's likely a hoax. My further comments are in the first comments to that YouTube video.

OK, for what it's worth, here are my comments from the YouTube video...


So my first thought upon seeing the "Jim Morrison is alive in Oregon" video by rodeoswest was, ah, I don't think so... I was quite certain he had died in Paris as reported, and was probably lucky to have lived that long, even, with the excess he was known for. I'm still 95% sure that it has to be a scam, regardless, but that other 5% is pretty intriguing the more I think about it.

I have no desire to buy the video, with the skeptic in me still more certain that it's a hoax... so I can only comment on what's available online. But I'll come at this from that intriguing 5% POV, because, let's face it, that's a lot more interesting.

Aside from any possibilities of fakery (which there certainly might be), people have commented how that doesn't look anything like Jim, but it really does, especially if you consider that 37 YEARS have passed since 1971. People age in different ways, and I think it's very much in the realm of possibility that Jim could look like that at this point.

For those that say that he couldn't have survived this long with his drinking and drug use, well, in one sense I think he would have had to stop that at some point, but then again, Keith Richards is the same age as Jim Morrison would be. Nuff said...

As for the idea that he's a cowboy raising horses now being absurd... that actually rings true for me. I'm sure it wasn't an immediate transition from worldly rock god poet to country cowboy living on a ranch, but you can't presume what kind of directions life will take you. Certainly, if Jim did fake his death, his life must have taken some different directions after that point. My life is quite different today than it was about 10-12 years ago, and again, we're talking about 37 years here.

The voice on the recording is also convincing after hearing it a few times... Similar kind of expression as Jim... Sure, it doesn't sound like the warm and round tone we know from The Doors, but it sure sounds like someone after years of alcohol and cigarettes. Remember, it's been 37 years. I believe I've heard recordings of Morrison from 1970-71 where he sounded a lot like that. And though he seems to be straining, you can kind of hear that classic Morrison croon when he sings.

That he says "ride" instead of "try" doesn't bother me at all... We have to assume that he hasn't been obsessively singing Doors songs for 37 years, and just because you wrote some lyrics doesn't mean you can remember them. I'm a musician and songwriter and there are songs of mine that I performed many times just a few years ago that I'd have trouble remembering the words to now.

Why would he come out now after 30+ years and have some rodeo guy in Oregon represent him and promote him (barely)? I might say, precisely for the reason that is given... because Gerald became friends with him. I mean, gee, I don't know... you'd think he'd be wary of telling anybody he's still alive, but at the same time, there could be that old rock star in him that might want a little of that old recognition.

Not that Jim Morrison hasn't had huge recognition since his death... of course he has... but I'm talking about current recognition of who you are now... They may have realized that to put this idea out there would be jeered and not believed by many people, anyway, so what's to lose. Or maybe, if it is the real Jim, he's having a laugh with it. Or maybe he's not, um, entirely in the best state of mind to really know what to do anymore in terms of publicity.

To emphasize again, he'd be 64 now, and with many years (or at least those years in the 60's and early 70's) of heavy drug and alcohol use in him. I'm just trying to draw a psychological portrait that might fit with what we've been given. Not to insult Jim if it really is him... if he stopped his heavy drinking then he's probably okay now... But at this point he might be a bit of an old kook, you know what I mean? And that would help to explain the nature of this whole thing.

The website does seem a little disingenuous, though... There are only a few pictures of small size, there are photos that include obvious painting over the arms (covering up tattoos, it looks like), there are references to Ray Manzarek admitting on video that Jim is alive where Ray is obviously being sarcastic... Certainly, more could be done to show definitively that the guy is THE Jim Morrison. I don't know, but then again, you wouldn't expect the best presentation from some rodeo guy...

Again, my rational self tells me this is a hoax and a scam, but there are a number of things about it that seem very plausible and so it is, if nothing else, interesting to consider. It's a screwy story if it is true, but what a story if so... Here's hoping we get more information.

Perhaps I should add that when I say: "So my first thought upon seeing the "Jim Morrison is alive in Oregon" video by rodeoswest" I am referring only to the brief trailer of the "Jim Morrison Discovery" DVD shown on YouTube and on the Rodeos West website... I have not seen the full video and have no intention of buying it. My understanding of the video is that it shows very little more of "Jim" than what has already been shown, and contains mostly filler interviews with everyone else but "Jim". If the video could give me more to work with to help say, one way or another, that it's really him or not, then I might go ahead and buy it, even suspecting it's a scam (which the lack of more "Jim" footage on the video seems to point to). But otherwise, nah.

I'd be curious to hear more from Adriana Rubio, who supposedly met Gerald and "Jim" and wrote a book that includes something about that... Some of what she says makes the whole thing seem even sketchier, and yet, apparently she does believe that it really is Jim.

I appreciate your comments on the youtube video. I would like to comment about the picture of Rodeo's Wests' "Jim Morrison."

In the seated picture of him holding the gun, it does look like Jim. I, along with some friends, took that picture, blew it up, lightened it, darkened it, printed it out..and compared it to another pic of Jim in the same position looking straight on.. and the resemblance is striking.
When you look at the left side of the picture by Jim's jaw, one side is slightly larger than the other.. in both pictures, and in all of young Jim's pictures you see the same thing.

We compared the eyes, jaw, mouth... printed out the young Jim picture and we came up with

a)someone either photoshopped the "old" Jim or
b) its someone who would look like him or
c)it is him.

About the audio on RodeoWest. My friends and I did our best comparing Moonlight Drive in that audio to the way Jim sang it on several different versions. One thing stood out and we all agreed: the way the last two words are sung sound like the way young Jim sang it.
Listen to the way he says DRIVE. We made comparisons to a live version as well, and they are the same.

Also, we made comparisons to the way "old" Jim said Ray Manzareck's name to the way young Jim said it upon introducing Ray in a live concert. Sounds exactly the same. "Old" Jim could have picked up a slight accent in the 37 years he disappeared.

Just speculating..

What an amazing story. I am sincerely sorry that I went off on ya, I just felt that you were being sarcastic. I know I wasn't there for Jim when he was with the DOORS, but I am now. Now when everyone has turned there back on him for money.

Jim should be making out ok, he does have income from 37 years worth of royalties. Hell, the The Doors are bigger now than they ever were! If Jim is alive in Oregon as say he is, well give the the ol' Lysergic Acid King a big ol' hug from the Marijuana Kid (me). We shot it out together on the Strip one Night! I sure miss him. Hi Keri.. very interesting information you have about Gerald Pitts and how Jim stumbled upon him.

You mentioned Jim was involved in construction work. I ask myself why would Jim do that when he has the right to 1/4 share of all The Doors profits, which would make him a multi-millionaire. Then again, no one is like Jim Morrison--he was a totally unpredictable guy.
The only picture that resembles him is of the one seated with the guns. In that picture, the eyes look BROWN. There are some pictures of Jim taken in black/white and color in which his eyes look brown as well (see The Doors official site for picture on the cover).

However, in reality Jim's eyes were a blue-gray. Jim was arrested in Florida on an incident at the Clearwater Pier, along with his friend. Jim gave his eyecolor as "gray". In several color photos with Pam, you can see Jims eyes were a blue/gray and Pams were green. Yet his eyes do come out looking brown in certain pics.

About Cliff Morrison-- in the past I have listened to his voice on his myspace. There were a few threads about this on the official Doors website- http://www.thedoors.com and Cliff challenged the Morrison family to DNA. They were going to go ahead with it, then declined. Then Cliff declined. It was a back and forth thing. The people on The Doors website who knew Jim say Cliff is not his son. Im sure you can find those threads, they were posted this summer.

IF Jim is alive, does anyone have any idea how Jim is receiving the royalties due him. A third party? His own parents?

I understand the Courson family and his parents went to court to each receive half of Jim's quarter. I cannot see Jim ever wanting his parents to live on the money he made unless he abandoned everything and decided to live poor.

Something I noticed-- Jim loved the movie Casablanca. He had sat through it three times and missed their first gig after receiving a contract. He also visited Casablanca twice that I am aware of. He was so intrigued with this movie. Ironic how he ended up in Paris, just like in the movie... Bogart made a tough decision in the movie to send his true love away..the movie ends with Bogart putting her on a plane to go to the US while he stayed there.

The parallel struck me the other day. Jim stayed "behind" in Paris while Pam flew back to the US by Bill Siddons.

Goodness me, folks. I just posted the link to the Doors website and said take a look at the color of Jim's eyes in the photo that is currently on their site. I opened it today to make sure it was and noticed something else.

Look at the SHOULDERS in that picture! looking to the left of the photo, you see the right shoulder is down a bit while the right one is raised.... exactly like in the picture of the older cowboy Jim seated in that Rodeo West photo. Jim was about 24 in this picture, add on 40 years and weight, age.

I have been following this story since it broke in 2005. On Pitts early website he said he had Jim's thumbprint. Morrison was arrested many times. I am sure he was fingerprinted. Someone should do side by side thumbprint comparison.

The photos that were in my posession will be in public within about eight days....well, betweeen Noel (Christmas) and New Year.

They are in a popular magazine included in an article with the assistance of many people who knew Jim Morrison at the time of death.

Once again in no way do I say its him..but looks very much like Jim Morrison in Death...his surviving friends say it is him and to tell truth I believe it is him.

I want to say that all proceeds of sale is going to Africa relief so if you are interest or want to help Africa then buy some copy and whether you believe or not; my family will not have a single penny out of this; and my Uncle remains annonymous..as is his biggest wish. ...some help and aid will result.

also what do you mean jim morrison in death? if there was any pictures of him it would have been taken after death at the morgue. is this what you mean?

the magazine is supposedly Paris Match. That is what Andreii said in another post. i checked it out, its a weekly magazine from Paris but I did not see anything about Jim Morrison in november as andreii said. you can google paris match.

The thumb in the picture of the faux morrison standing does not match in length the real jim morrisons thumb. jim's thumb was LONG and thin.
the thumb would thicken a bit with age, but the LENGTH would not be changed.
