Fidobag

Here's an odd product from Samsung-Italia.
It's the Fidobag. The site explaining the Fidobag is in Italian, but apparently it's a suitcase that will respond to the voice of its owner and come at their command (that would be useful for finding a bag in an airport). Also, if someone tries to steal your bag, all you need do is call out and the Fidobag will start to 'bark' at an intensity of 197.5 decibels, thereby stunning and exposing the would-be thief.
Gizmodo offers a more complete translation of the site. Although the Fidobag does seem like it would be useful, it just seems way too odd to actually be real.

You're gonna have to have some vocal chords or some whistle to make it hear at 450 metres.
Also I'm trying to imagine: So I try to steal this thing and it's starts to growl....so WHAT. What's it gonna do bite me????
Even if it were real: not a very good design

197.5 decibels? Considerng the Old Saturn V Boosters on the old Apollo rovckets were rarted at around 130dB, and the dB scale is logarithmic, 197.5 decibels would probably liquify most organic matter in a rather wide radius.

And here I am saying it wouldn't work. What WAS I thinking.....

There's no reference to the "Fidobag" on the real
http://www.samsung-italia.com website. And if you click on the link to the Fratelli Alfredson (the Alfredson Brothers) it becomes clear that this is a comical farse.

120 dB = threshold of pain
130 dB = air raid siren at 1 meter
140 dB = jet engine
150 dB = instant perforation of eardrum
180 dB = shuttle launch at ground zero

If this thing barks at 197.5 dB it would cause internal organ damage to anybody unfortunate enough to be near it. I don't know of anything that can emit a sound that loud other than a very large explosion. Must be a total hoax.

Another item on the sound scale - stun grenades are 175 dB. So that's about 100 times as loud as a flashbang grenade. That would be scary if it were real.

Shucks, why not just put an atomic bomb in the darned bag?

Fidobag reminds me of the scene in "Sleeper" where someone gives Woody Allen's character a robot dog named "Rags," and woody asks, "Is he housetrained, or will he leave little batteries on the carpet?"
