Death Hoaxes (of the 21st Century)

Death hoaxes involve the false report of someone's demise. They're an old favorite of hoaxers, since the untimely departure of a well-known figure is always sure to gain publicity. But between the years 2000-2002 an unusually high number of these hoaxes seemed to occur, perhaps reflecting the generally dark and cynical mood of the period.


Britney, Eminem, and even Lou Reed are all prematurely announced dead.
