I bet they killed they cat.  Stephen, it sounds like the kids were in Canada (the one kid wanted to attend film school in Montreal)...They probably have to keep knives handy, in case of polar bear attacks.

for “Ichthyology” class we had to disect sharks and the one my lab partner and I got had 5 embryos in it…

*It sucked because then we had to disect one of those little buggers as well!*

You think that was bad… for “Mammology” class we had to do cats. Your average “Tabby” housecat. And to make matters worse, the specimen had to be taken home with you for studying reasons… so Carrie (my lab partner) and I had to take turns keeping the damn thing in our fridge.

It was HELL because for like a month we had to keep our daughter AWAY from the fridge! So she wouldn’t see and freak!!

Heh, Maegan, I don’t think a knife would do too good against a polar bear.  They probably just ran home to get a kitchen knife, or maybe one of them had a swiss army knife.

I had to dissect a dead baby pig, it was so sad…. My group got the biggest and would be cutest pig. I got so upset I um…cried and had to leave the class (but still had to come back and dissect it)
Dissection is so wrong and meaningless. It’s not like the people who disect them will be doctors, and knowing/seeing what’s inside the animal won’t do people good anyways. I think it would be just as good with computer programs or plastic ones.
I heard they are passing a law that if the students dont’ want to dissect a real animal, the school will provide alternative methods. I hope the law gets passed soon.

it is illegal over here - to make us do it. I dont mind and i think im doing it next term but i cant really refuse seeing as i want to be a vet and would have to do it after school anyway

Despite working in a car factory (for the money) my degree is in Biology. I double majored in “Wildlife Biology” and “Marine Biology” and there are certain areas that need to do it. Anyone associated with animals should have the knowledge under their belts. But I would agree that it (learning animal anatomy) could wait until college, until people have decided that they “choose” to do something that requires it.

Either way… the smell just SUCKS!
