Be afraid. Be very afraid. Just when you thought it was safe to go into the garden…
If you have ever been scared of trees or a giant lizard monster, then this is not the story for you.

This large bit of greenery bares more than a passing resemblence to one of cinema’s greatest creations.

This is the tree that looks like Godzilla, and if you’re not careful, it might flutter in the breeze at you.

Local TV stations in Japan have been getting rather excited about the tree, which is located in the Chiba Prefecture.

I think it must be a slow news week there…

This one actually looks good.  I would proudly own that tree.

You do have to look at it from just the right angle, though. I suspect that most people would assume it was a boring old non-monster tree. raspberry

But just imagine it at night with moonlight-illuminated clouds behind it.

Which is quite all right since, coincidentally enough, the photograph is taken from that precise angle!

(And all trees are monsters.  Didn’t you know?  They just generally don’t look like other non-tree monsters.)

I think that was the plan.  I would love to have a tree like that in my front yard.  It might be a good way to keep control of the kids in the area.  Think of the possibilities if you wired up a couple of speakers and hid them in the tree especially if you could find a way to make the tree move at the same time.
