I was reading this, and expecting the last line to read ‘The teenager was placed on a good behavior bond for Breaking and Entering’ or something similar.
No, apparently chasing out naked men from your daughters bedroom is not allowed.

DELTONA, Fla. (AP) - An angry Deltona father whacked his teenage daughter’s boyfriend with a metal pipe after finding the boy naked in his daughter’s room. Authorities say the father, 45, didn’t even know his daughter had a boyfriend or that the youngster had been sneaking into the home for more than a year.

When he heard noises coming from his daughter’s bedroom Thursday morning and saw a stranger standing naked on the girl’s bed, he swung a metal pipe. He then chased the teen out the front door and called police.

The boy was taken to the hospital where doctors closed a head wound with staples.

The father was charged with aggravated battery on a child and bonded out on $10,000.

That seems rather harsh on the father.  It’s well understood that if you’re sneaking around naked in a daughter’s bedroom then you run the risk of being severely beaten by her father.  It’s part of the game. 

I think that traditionally the father is supposed to use a baseball bat or a shotgun.  Perhaps metal pipes are considered improper.

Uninvited guest as far as the father is concerned… Having a daughter myself I might have very well done something similar if it were me.

Having said that… I was the teenager once and have been caught in similar situations at least twice by my ex’s parents.

I would have used a shotgun, much more convincing.

I would believe that ‘hearing’ noises in any part of the house where there ought not to be might suggest an intruder intent on harm which would give the father or any legal member the right to defend.  However, in this case the young man was ‘invited to the premises’ by someone who legally lived there so was not legally an intruder.  Of course, his attire was obviously in question huh? 

Nevertheless, the father IS guilty of over-aggressive escort off the premises of a ‘guest’.

I must say, I could have come up with a better verb than that one given the context.

Struck, hit, maybe even bludgeoned.

Just not “beat”, though
