Evening, MM.  *Hugs*  How are you tonight?

How’s Boo doing?  (Since you’re my only source of information there short of actually sending her a message she probably won’t get because her inbox is full.)

As far as I know she’s fine. She says that she might come back online soon…

I’m ok. Just got back from samba practice. We’ve got a gig on Saturday that I wasn’t planning on attending, but half of the people who last week said they’d be there now won’t be, so if I don’t go there’ll be no-one to play bass.
I spent 15 minutes of tonight’s practice trying to learn the bass part for one of the pieces that I’ve only ever played other instruments on before.

Whee!  That sounds fun.

I should try to find some kind of drumming something around here to get into.  It would be good to drum again.

What sort of drumming did you do before?

In high school.  Marching band and concert band.  Played bass drum in marching band one year in junior high and then snare in marching band all three years in high school.  Concert band involves drumming whatever is needed to be drummed.  Or percussed.  Or shaken.  Or whatever.

After high school I was on staff with the marching band as the drum line instructor for five years.  So I’ve played and have (at least limited) experience on lots of things.

I never had a drum set and was never really interested in playing set so I don’t have much experience there.  Though I’m capable of playing very basic rhythms there if needed.  (And more with practice, I’m sure.)  But I wouldn’t look for something where I would need to play drum set.

I’ve played samba for nine years and done a little bit of African drumming (djembes). I also did a bit of drum kit at school, which was fun, and I wouldn’t mind having another go.
