. . .how Europeans deal with a “homosexual pride” day.

Misrepresent things much?

From that very webpage you link to:  “. . .Slovenia and Croatia have a tradition of organizing Pride events. . .“.  You know, Slovenia and Croatia, those two European nations full of Europeans who live right next to Serbia?  That the gay pride marchers were given a permit to march, that a number of policemen were injured in the riot trying to stop the rioters, and that the rioters also attacked government buildings (they were also rioting against their hero Slobodan Milošević being arrested for such trifling things as genocide and war crimes), shows pretty clearly that the Serbian government doesn’t have anything against them marching.  And even there in Serbia they were able to have gatherings succesfully.  So that’s not how “Europeans deal” with those sorts of things, that’s just how a group of skinheads and ultra-religious zealots in one city one time acted.

How do you feel about that video?  Do you support the idea that if somebody disagrees with what you believe in that they should pin you down on the street and kick you repeatedly in the head?

I realize that you want to dismiss the the counter rally categorically, but at the end of the day, they were Europeans.  Obviously not ALL Europeans feel this way toward homosexuals, but as you can see from the video, many thousands in Belgrade weren’t going to tolerate an affront to decency in their community.

You know Alpha…. you seem bent on categorizing people, then exploiting on their faults. Stop it before you get hurt.

I am not a homo-sexual, but I do think you deserve a beating.

As far as it goes, Gay Pride parades have been rather clean around here. I am not sure why you assume each and everyone of them are sneaking away to a back ally to preform sexual acts. But the way you are saying it, no matter what, they are spreading Aids or Viruses.

I’m still waiting for you to admit you are wrong… which you have been so many times. Not just on a peer pressure, moral, religious or even mis-informed information, but you really need to realize that you are preaching to the wrong club here.

Spread your misinformed propaganda somewhere else.

Pffft.  When I hear another poster on the internet get so frustrated arguing that he resorts to a veiled threat of real-world physical harm, I have to think that I’ve won the debate.

Thank you for the victory.

Please….
You don’t think I meant that literally?

Are you that self absorbed that you think any form of physically threat means I would actually do it. Or is it you just heard such threat so often, from dimwits, that you categorize anyone who says such things in the same fashion.

Sorry pal, I am not a poorly educated teenager. Unlike some….

In my opinion, you are out of your league here, but I will applaud your better vocabulary. However, you have no idea what you are talking about. In hindsight you do not defend your text, you just go out and turn the subject into something else…. When will you prove us wrong? Rather than reply to our semi insults, please give us some facts as to why you feel the way you do.

A lot of the time I cannot comprehend my thoughts into words, or even make sense. But the way I see it, you are contributing nothing in the long run. People prove you wrong countless times, yet you never back up your replies.  You just go on to the next, and most convenient way to comment, which is a small insult to a majority, be it small or large.

DJ out.

AM, look, I can understand what you’re trying to get at, I think.
Here’s my opinion on that report you linked to at first (I did go take a look at it, though I didn’t get past the first part, nor do I care to):
Okay, this is a gay pride/fetish parade day.  If they want to have a parade, fine, just please keep their clothes on!  If those actions are illegal any other time (and I’m sure they are), then they should be illegal all the time.  If I lived in the areas where those events were taking place, I would make a point to be out of town with my family.  That doesn’t strike me as a wholesome family festival.
As for the AIDS thing, it does seem a bit silly that they would have the kinds of activities and concession stands going on right next to AIDS awareness booths.  The two would seem to be mutually exclusive.  The people in the gay community would have a better chance of being accepted in society if they weren’t trying so hard to not be part of society.  It’s as if they think they can say “to hell with your rules,“ and think that they can shove their sexual orientation in everyone’s faces.
Again, this is just my opinion.  I have pretty strong (non-PC) opinions on homosexuality, which I will not get into on here, because those are not part of this discussion.  I don’t wish to offend anyone on here, because I enjoy the exchange of ideas and opinions.

Why did you have to reply Crafty? =)

Now he will respond to you instead of responding to my post(s).

I realize that you want to dismiss the the counter rally categorically, but at the end of the day, they were Europeans.

Indeed they were Europeans.  An absolutely microscopic percentage of Europeans.  And yet you said, “how Europeans deal with. . .“, which makes it sound as though what happened is the typical action of the typical European.  It’s not, though.  It’s actually atypical.

As you can see here, gay pride marches are common in Europe, and they generally don’t have any more problems than do any other marches.  Even in Belgrade, it was just that one time that things were disrupted (and that riot wasn’t even entirely focused on the gay pride parade, but was also about radical Serb nationalists protesting against the post-Milošević government).  Other gay pride events went on as planned.  The typical European does not go storming out and assault them.  The typical European doesn’t really care enough to bother.  You’d be more justified in saying that the 1992 LA riots show how Americans deal with white folks, since those riots involved more people in more places for longer time than did this single two-hour episode in Belgrade.

So the image that you were suggesting was false.  You have shown a tendency here to misrepresent and generalise things.  I suggest that you check a bit better in the future on the background of what you are going to write before you write it.

Obviously not ALL Europeans feel this way toward homosexuals, but as you can see from the video, many thousands in Belgrade weren’t going to tolerate an affront to decency in their community.

Yes, actually, they are tolerating it.  And have been for years now.  Apparently it doesn’t affront their community’s decency enough for most Serbians to do anything about it.  They only seemed to care when they could use it as a political stepping-stone.

And I notice that you avoided the question I asked you.

Geez, you really live on your own planet do you?

You should come to Amsterdam (in Europe) during the annual Gay Parade. It’s one of THE events of the year. This year, even main stream politicians attended.

Accipiter, you’ve got to be kidding me!  There are no heterosexual pride days in which men and women perform oral sex on one-another in the street.

Ever heard of the Berlin Love Parade? There is certainly an exhibitionist element to that… Or Carnaval in Rio for that matter?

Loosen up guy. This world is wider and more diverse than your personality seems able to cope with.
