1981 vs 2005 and not getting the facts straight

The following list of “coincidences” between the years 1981 and 2005 is doing the rounds by e-mail in my country:

Interesting Year 1981

1. Prince Charles got married
2. Liverpool crowned soccer Champions of Europe
3. Australia lost the Ashes tournament.
4. Pope Died

Interesting Year 2005

1. Prince Charles got married
2. Liverpool crowned soccer Champions of Europe
3. Australia lost the Ashes tournament.
4. Pope Died

In the future, if Prince Charles decides to remarry ... please warn the Pope!!


It doesn’t get the facts straight though, and whoever made this list is an historical nitwit who didn’t even bother to check his/her “facts” pertinent to the quip. No need to warn the Pope, as Pope John Paul I died in 1978, not 1981…

Not the Catholic Pope, but the ‘Church of Jebus the Dyslexic Jew’ Pope. 


Although the Pope was almost assassinated in 1981.

Oddly enough, I bet some of my friends five bucks that the pope would die in April last year, because I actually predicted it. He died in April and I am about 40 bucks richer. THough I dont mean to exploit death for my own gain. And no, I am in no way related to Nostradamas.

Hmmm. One of my friends pointed out that although John Paul II didn’t die in 1981, he nearly did: it was the year he was shot by Mehmet Ali Ag

The Pope’s assassination was carried out by the American government in retaliation for his (the Pope’s) threats of going public with his knowledge of America’s bombing of its own naval base in Pearl Harbor during WWII.

You know the idea of 4 things correlating,
especially when 1 is wrong
and another only has one other possible outcome
isn’t really all that remarkable.

It’s equivalent of rolling a pair of dice
and claiming that the odds of getting
a double is 36 to 1 when it’s only 6 to 1
(hope that make sense)

I just made that story up Chary…....geeese…..some people believe anything….while im at it, George Bush isn’t really a clone…...FYI
