Well, it’s not a shock that the recent gas prices have attracted the attention of fuel efficient cars. But…. why are companies still advertising Fossil fuels cars, capitalizing on the existing main use of fuel. Every car company is claiming high KM/Miles per gallon in their advertising now. Why am I not seeing companies advertising hybrids or electric cars.

I am thinking this energy efficient and clean(er) fuels are more readily for commercial and cheap use. I am thinking to believe that car companies would loose billions if they went the way of better means of fuel. So in order to save them a ton of money, they are milking the use of fossil fuels for as long as possible.

While the sales of RVs and Hummers are down, that still doesn’t stop companies from promoting their fuel efficient Sedans.

We have the resources to apply the new means of fuels, but because companies already have existing cars on the road, they wish not to promote or induct better forms of fuel.

I smell greed on a large scale.

I think the increased cost of gas prices is not because of a supposed gas/refining of the fossil fuel. It is because car companies wish to milk the market as soon as they can.

Secret collaborations have been known to happen in the past. It is also possible that the car companies are hoarding a supply.

[Off topic, I’d also like to bring up that this whole oil thing is silly. No one is foreseeing the future. Just think about how many other products are made from crude oil. When the fossil fuel supply runs out…. there will be many product not readily or easily available. But no one thinks about that.]

I love the panic car adverts

‘Yes you too can have a car as fuel effiecient as ours’
then they show something that gets 32 or 33 mpg, or even
better 28 mpg or less smile

I giggle mightily at the SUV commercials advertising 25MPG.

I may be driving a Prius for a couple weeks. Too bad I can’t keep it. It runs on electricity until you hit 40mph, then it gets 48mpg.

This is the car I want.
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Tesla_Roadster

Anyone have 110k they don’t need?

Though to be honest 220 miles isn’t that far,
maybe I should go for
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Chevrolet_Volt
instead.

Tesla Roadster. Quite the fitting name.

Shockingly, I want one of these;
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Smart_(automobile)

I’ve seen them around the road on rare occasions, but the popularity is growing, and they are becoming quite frequent.

My daily commutes, I am the only one in the car…. so, this goofy looking thing is perfect for me. 0-100km in 3.5 seconds…. The car is perfect for me really. I never hesitate to accelerate.

If it corners well, then it’s my dream car.

Yep I’ve seen them about
A friend of mine wants one smile

I saw an advert last night for a car company
accusing people who buy those as being stupid
because they weren’t buying one of their big
gas guzzlers instead. It claimed their trucks
were 40000 miles of gas cheaper.

It conveniently forgot to mention that after
40000 miles most people would still be paying
either vehicle off.

Ooooo, that Tesla car is rear wheel drive…. Now I want one…. Damn you Sharruma!

Cars with wide bodies and rear wheel drive are so perfect for winter driving around here.
Tho it is not a super wide car, they just don’t make rear wheel drive cars at all anymore.

Wanna pool our money? We can share it on a monthly bases. =)

I’ll replace the tires regularly, if needed. wink

Teslas are pretty much not viable as serious cars, though.. They were produced as proof-of-concept vehicles. The batteries they have in them weigh a *LOT*, and account for a sizable portion of its cost.

If they made a plug-in hybrid version of the Mini Cooper, they’d sell like nobody’s business.

Personally, I want to see plugin scooters. They already get 100mpg, imagine what hybrid would do? 150? 200? Fill the tank once a year…

Seeing that it’s been paid for for ages and gets 40 MPG, I’ll stick with my trusty 1996 Geo Metro.
