Okay, so I could have easily opened this thread a week earlier and it would have worked.  And it can remain open for another week and still be significant.  Regardless, this is the official date of the holiday.  Even if that is an unofficial name.

They’ve actually been very mellow this year. Mind, *all* fireworks are illegal in this town. We don’t even get sparklers. Have to watch the municipal show, or furtively set off ones smuggled in from nearby towns.

When I get off work tonight I’ll cast an eye southward.  I’m sure with all the fireworks that are going to be let off across the country I’ll see a nice glow punctuated by momentary sparkles in the southern sky.

We already had our sparkly fireworks holiday, but they are still going off around the neighborhood.

ooooh.. very pretty…

Of course, on the weekend events, our LARP group camps off in the local mountain forest as well.. t looks pretty much like that, except you have to worry about zombies jumping you from behind the trees!

Hello, Dave.

Nice looking campground.  I guess.  It has trees and stuff.  That’s good, right? wink

Yes Tah, trees are good. grin

And Robin, I’m sorry, but this place is BYOZ only. blank stare

It’s 21 miles down a dirt road, 25 miles from the nearest town.  It recieves almost NO traffic, yet they still want to charge $5 a night. hmmm  Go figure.  Not that they have ever actually charged that.  It’s on the sign, but the collection post is always covered up. LOL (I guess to keep overly honest folks from trying to pay anyhow!) LOL

I am REALLY looking forward to going. (Even though it is only going to be my 9yr old daughter and I for the first 10 days. (That means no fire unless I bring wood.  Lord knows I can’t drag any in and cut it up…...)

On the 17th, I change to our favorite place (In a grove of trees right by the creek.) for anothe ten or 15 days.  The just remodeled it and put down new parking slabs and such, but left it alone other than that.  Once they test the water, they are going to change THAT one into a pay campground as well. *sigh*  Pretty soon, there will be NO primitive camps left. (Primitive camps are pack it in/Pack it out, no water, no services. Basic outhouses only. No fee.)

Kinda makes me sad… downer  (But it has to do with the bloomin’ population explosion I suppose…) blank stare

I need to move to Alaska. *sigh*

I think I have a pic or two of our favorite campground….Yep! cheese

I don’t have them on the web yet, so I will put it on my blog page.

Pretty pretty. (Though most of the pictures I take are FROM my campsite not AT my campsite…) If you know what I’m trying to say.. grin

ANyhow, I am going to go blog for a while, then I must prep for camping, so all you folks out there have a good one if you can! grin

See y’all later!

*POP!*

If you want primitive Dave just head up my way and I’ll take you out to some of the really primitive ones up here.  Just have to be prepared for a good long hike up in the mountains.

Yours does sound like a nice place to stop.  I’m taking a trip this summer which will bring me back home up thru Wyoming and Montana.  Maybe I’ll stop for a couple of days.  Is it good fishing in there??
