Piculas said those other reasons are just window dressing. He said he finished the lesson plan, another teacher knew the students were on the computers and he never put the student peer in charge.
Sounds as though the school is trying to decide (or has) whether to take the sub-teacher’s word OR the students’ accusations. Apparently the disparity is really between the students and the teacher and there appear to be no other real teacher or staff witnesses (other than the regular teacher who may NOT have actually witnessed anything but may have based his/her complaint upon students’ accusations to him/her).
Before I would make ANY decision, or accept the word of any of these folks (including the teacher’s), I would sit ALL of them (the teacher and the students who made claims at interviews) together before the ‘board’ to see what if anything so far as alleged accusations, change.
In the words of my late Gramps:” He who points one finger at someone, points three fingers at himself”....or something like that.
But I don’t make a fist when I point, so when I point the finger at someone, the other three are pointing at the person to my left. Which is only fair because I think most things are his fault anyway.
Not to take the subs side, but do they ever follow lesson plans? Rarely from my experience, did the teacher even leave one for them. We just watched a movie or had a free hour to play games, watch tv or do homework. If I was a teacher I wouldn’t want some sub coming in and teaching for a day, then you would come back and spend the whole next day straightening things out that the sub “taught”.
You’re right N E O, in fact that’s pretty typical. Teachers are humans and even IF there is a lesson plan, each will naturally take an ‘individual’ approach because no two personalities are the same. It’s common for students to feel disoriented when there is a substitute, that’s just the way it is.

This is Land o lakes...about half retirees, half middle income population. It’s middle ground as far as religion & non-religion go. And if it’s the same as Hillsborough county...the sub just sits in as a babysitter for the day. There is usually a “sub day” lesson plan...but it typically involves having a review or like Beasjt says, waytching a movie. Especially when it’s a middle/highschool, b/c those teachers are subject specific. I was preparing to be a sub after I lost my job with Progressive...and it’s not very involved. I mean, they were willing to let ME do it! I don’t claim to be very smart...just good at research.
