I keep voting for the Rhino party.  Never had one elected yet but they keep trying.  They once promised to repeal the law of gravity and put a live chicken in every household.

I’ve noticed that BLT keeps logging in and poking around, but never replies to our questions or provides any details.  In fact, only once has he ever made any sort of a reply to anybody on this Forum.  I wish he’d actually make an attempt.

Wow, how many ‘monarchies’ switch between rival powers ever few years without the catalyst of a civil war?  Everything that has occurred/might occur is perfectly legal under our constitution - it’s hardly a revolution in the making.  Damn, there are as many holes in your ‘theories’ as in BLT’s.  Funny, that.  I would have thought better of you.

The USA deliberately choose to be a republic, with a chosen President. To avoid anyone usurping power semi-eternally, you have a fixed number of terms for which a given person can be elected President. But now we are starting to see instances of (past) Presidents turning over power to sons, or spouses: effectively creating “Presidential Dynasties”. While possible under the US constitution, I’d say this is a loophole in it actually. Having your son or spouse run for President is a way to circumvent the restricted fixed number of Presidency terms. And a way to the establishment of families in semi-eternal power.

In fact, I am surprised that Charybdis doesn’t seem to get this point.

BTW, I have nothing against Monarchies. I live in one and am very happy with it (in fact, I am a strong Monarchist).

My vote would be for Obama.

I like what I’ve seen of Obama’s campaign. And anyone who takes the inspiration for his campaign slogan from Bob the Builder would get my vote.

Unfortunately, I doubt he’ll win the presidency even if he wins the nomination. My mother related to me a conversation she had recently had with two American friends, both Democrats, about the two contenders (their names have been changed) “Well Robert doesn’t like Hillary at all but I can’t see we have much choice, I’m not voting for a n****r for president!”

In fact, whoever gets the Democrat nomination, I suspect there’s enough sexists and racists among their grass-roots support to make for at least a low turn out in either case.

On the other hand, I know (from talking to people online) that many of them would vote for a black man over a woman.

I also like Obama’s campaign.

Living in Canada I really don’t care who gets elected.  It’s just very amusing to watch all the politicing.  We have a federal election here and it takes about a month and 1/2 from start to new government.  They have been going at it for over a year now in the States and still have 8 months to go.  Not to mention having spent an amount equivilant to the GDP of some small countries.

I care who’ll be elected, because who leads the US affects us here.
However, I also don’t quite understand why it takes such a very long time.
