I read somewhere that the shows haven’t actually done very well. The first one sold out in 38 seconds, yes, but apparently they all went to ticket touts looking to win big on eBay. I’m told that the tickets are going for a third of retail price, the touts are actually LOSING money on them LOL

Well, it’s no longer a hoax...

The UK band said they would end their tour in Toronto on 26 February, with planned shows in Beijing, Sydney, Cape Town and Buenos Aires being axed.

The shows had been originally scheduled for January but were postponed after the London leg of the tour was extended and will not now be rescheduled.

Reports had suggested a lack of interest in some of the cities.

The Spice Girls tour kicked off in Vancouver on 2 December and has also taken them to cities in the US, Spain and Germany.

More at the link above.

You know, I REALLY hate to admit this… but with daughters that are 15 years, 6 years, and 5 years… I have to say that I just love the Spice Girls. (Especially Ginger) Their music, if you want to go out on a limb and call it that, is catchy and somewhat bearable… and when I take my girls to their shows, or buy them their products, I’m loved for it… and that’s what really matters to me… So, for my vote, I say “Girl Power!”

Whatever.  Now if this was a rumor related to talent (Led Zepplin) it may be more newsworthy

Off topic sort of, but did your local radio promote the upcoming Robert Plant/Allison Krause shows at the Palace here in Louisville?  It sold out in “minutes” so they added another show the night before which also sold out in minutes.

Personally, I think both artists are terrific and it will be a great show (couldn’t afford the tickets and if I could would have been turned away after they sold out), but the local rock station kept promoting it as “Robert Plant” and didn’t even mention Krause until the event was sold out, and then just barely.  They don’t even play the new album.  The public radio station, which is Krause’s forum here, promoted the event with equal billing and play the CD regularly.

Just wondering if some of Robert Plants more die hard fans will be disappointed when he shares the stage with a bluegrass artist on equal terms since they weren’t forewarned.

Any hard-core Robert Plant fan has seen him at a folk festival already. They know that Plant is big on the folk circuit (I tried-and failed- to get tickets to the Cardiff Folk Festival where he was playing in summer) and should expect him to play bluegrass.

In fact, anyone who knows anything at all about Robert Plant should be prepared for a folky experience.
