Time Traveler’s Gets A RewriteBruce Joel Rubin (Ghost) has been hired to rewrite the script for the SF romance The Time Traveler’s Wife, based on the novel by Audrey Niffenegger, Variety reported. Robert Schwentke is still on board to direct the film, which is being produced by Brad Pitt and Nick Wechsler.
The story centers on a Chicago librarian who suffers from a condition which causes him to travel in time involuntarily. His episodes often take him to random moments in the life of a girl who grows up to be his wife. The Time Traveler’s Wife has been in development since 2003, when New Line acquired the feature rights to the unfinished novel. It went on to become a bestseller.
After reading this very convoluted yet entertaining novel, I’m trying to visualize just how they’re going to have to rewrite this in order to simplify it enough to film adequately without the audience leaving with ‘wtf?‘ on their lips?
